The entire discussion was started about thinking Herman would be a good hire from here if fired from Texas. A lot of people thought he wouldn't be because he hasn't won big at TX, but just because he hasn't in his relatively brief time doesn't mean he can't somewhere. I just pointed out that conference and national titles aren't a birthright there. They have won 2 national titles in 50 years and 6 conference titles or whatever if was in the last 40 and just because you are in TX it doesn't guarantee you a top 5 class. FL and GA are producing just as many players with probably less competition for players. It wasn't to take away from TX talent, but just to show that arent going to be winning all these games just based on the fact that they are in TX.Going the Camp Egghead route? It doesn’t take away from your state to give Texas it’s due. Back when Mack Brown was thriving, he would have classes stocked with 5 star Lone Star talent...by their junior season! When he had coordinator problems that began slacking. That’s carried over. Last year Texas finished 8th with a disappointing season and they’re currently 17th with expectations falling. This state supplies all these programs with their lifeblood core talent and when the program’s good to elite, they'’re not required to stray for everything they need.
Eff himcompletely agree. The travesty was Hamilton giving him a contract that (from what I understand) had minimal penalty for him leaving. Plus the trajectory he was on was going to have UT on probation quickly. But I think he’s matured, he’s an elite coach, and I think he’d be interested in returning to right the wrong. Seems like a total kiffin thing to do.
You garner the best talent in Texas and utilize it properly? You’re a playoff contender. At their best, the Longhorns land the best...and lots of it. Now to your point, being a good to great coach is only part of it. You gotta kiss the babies and play golf with the good ole boy oil dummies. I thought he’d succeed where Strong failed and Brown excelled in that aspect. Was a vocal fan of his when Butch was on the ropes and I still haven’t abandoned the belief that he’s upper level in scheme and recruiting. Sometimes a mild setback is a teaching moment. If he doesn’t turn it around in Austin, someone will let him have a go at another stop. The entire discussion was started about thinking Herman would be a good hire from here if fired from Texas. We should’ve swallowed our pride and set our feelings aside and went after him
I would not have done it. He's a POS and an average head coach.Fact of the matter is!...it was his dream job just like bama is Pruitts!..we all would have done it,anyone who says they wouldnt have taken their dream job is a liar and hypocrite.I just would have done it more professionally.the fans were upset in my opinion because of the promise we seen in year one. That’s something we haven’t seen since!..we all know he misses UT because of the Radom shoutouts and high praise he still gives us even after the death threats on him..if not Freeze I’d welcome kiffin back in a heartbeat because he would have immediate game changing talent,But over big F**ing Uncle Jim’s body right
You're talking about Dooly? The coach who couldn't develop a wet paper bag and decided it wasn't important to recruit o lineman. Its not going to happen because we have too many boosters with too much pride, but we would be in a much better spot if that was the choice 3 years ago.Lost to mediocre Auburn and UCLA at home. Got blown out by VT and that great class he brought in never contributed much at all.
No guarantee though I admit it is hard to imagine us being worse. He was very average here and got fired on the tarmac at his dream school. You're talking about Dooly?
