I think they should set a standard where if you're fired for poor performance (something tangible to measure with w/l record) then your contract payout for a buyout is docked a % cause I agree that leaning on mitigating gets you stuck in situations like we had with Butch where he just took a BS job so there'd be next to nothing mitigated to be a petty bitch.
If Pruitt stayed for the rest of his contract he'd make 12 million. If he's fired for poor performance why can't that be docked 25%? Maybe some of these coaches would be more interested in winning if they new losing/firing actually meant a pay cut. I also hate that if you want to hire away a coach the university is then paying his buyout. To me that should be something the coach is on the hook for to some extend, maybe only allow the hiring university the ability to offset 50% of it or something. Cause as is coaches seem to have zero loyalty. Get fired still get paid, get hired somewhere else they will pay the buyout to poach ya.
