This is true for me also. It's almost as if I look for other things I "have" to do on Saturdays so I don't have to watch college football. Was not crazy about Freeze until I learned he really wants to be here (that means a lot after Kiffin and the last search), and I would love to have a good offense. The only thing good about Butch's was if the play broke down so Dobbs could scramble. Disaster since then.Watching UT play has become a duty to me rather than something I do for pleasure. I used to watch every game on no matter who was playing but this season I don’t even do that. They’ve taken thrill not only out of watching them but also any cfb in general. If it hadn’t been such a big part of my life up until now I doubt I’d watch us at all. This is why I’m Freeze or bust. I love my alma mater but even I’m being driven away. Freeze can salvage that and bring in even younger fans with the style of offense he runs.
Started out fine but didn’t adjust to DC’s who figured out his playcalling tendencies. Also wasn’t Cut in another more vital area...instilling fundamentals and discipline. By the time he was fired by Fulmer (in admittedly a sacrificial lamb fashion), he was a liability. He reinvented himself in subsequent years but was OC in title only at Florida State and received way too much cred in that role. And yet, Sanders was another UT coach who was constantly criticized here. Many said we had no chance to win the Championship in 98 because he took over when Cut left. Even after that he was criticized and most who spoke were glad he left.
Meh. JMO, but if you can't get it done, a million dollar severance is more than fair. The way coaching works, the next job is almost always just around the corner. Take your million dollars for sucking and go find it.I think they should set a standard where if you're fired for poor performance (something tangible to measure with w/l record) then your contract payout for a buyout is docked a % cause I agree that leaning on mitigating gets you stuck in situations like we had with Butch where he just took a BS job so there'd be next to nothing mitigated to be a petty bitch.
If Pruitt stayed for the rest of his contract he'd make 12 million. If he's fired for poor performance why can't that be docked 25%? Maybe some of these coaches would be more interested in winning if they new losing/firing actually meant a pay cut. I also hate that if you want to hire away a coach the university is then paying his buyout. To me that should be something the coach is on the hook for to some extend, maybe only allow the hiring university the ability to offset 50% of it or something. Cause as is coaches seem to have zero loyalty. Get fired still get paid, get hired somewhere else they will pay the buyout to poach ya.
Common tactic in warfare, when something big is getting ready to go down, the "airwaves" get flooded with all kinds of nonsense to confuse the opposition and hide what's really going on. I realize this is not warfare, but the strategy is still sound..Because it's in direct contradiction to the notion that Boyd is calling the shots now.
I think there are folks involved with the program that do believe the things they're pushing out there right now.
It's just that they all seem to be pushing different narratives.
Which tells me not all of them can be right.
So choose wisely when deciding which one you're gonna get behind.
Except AV called it all before anyone knew Graham was out too.I mean Jay Graham is out with covid and he's the RB coach, so it makes sense that Gray could be a byproduct of that even if it's only for contact tracing.
I doubt Gray transfers though, he comes back for another season and produces again like he has this year he'll get a shot at being drafted.
