“Well hole ya know I been a high schoo coach ya know so I know what’s it like ya know I mean sometimes ya gotta play multiple spots so yeah I think he probably will get some looks there after practice 300”
We have absolutely zero idea if he'd be an upgrade. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. Of course, since he's not here we convince ourselves that he would be.
Maybe the guy knows he's a good DC but wouldn't be a good HC. Some guys have that awareness of their limitations. Obviously not all coaches do, but some....
I didn’t realize Napier was a TN boy. I can warm up to him in that case a little more knowing he would have a real passion for being here similar to freeze. Just don’t really know how good he is. He was elite recruiter as an assistant. Struggle his first go as OC then didn great work with Bama WRs and had good one year as OC at AZ st before being a HC. Only time I seen him though was his really odd coaching decisions in a game this year where I believe he took a saftey that made no sense. So I can’t say my first impression helped my thoughts on him
I think they should set a standard where if you're fired for poor performance (something tangible to measure with w/l record) then your contract payout for a buyout is docked a % cause I agree that leaning on mitigating gets you stuck in situations like we had with Butch where he just took a BS job so there'd be next to nothing mitigated to be a petty bitch.
If Pruitt stayed for the rest of his contract he'd make 12 million. If he's fired for poor performance why can't that be docked 25%? Maybe some of these coaches would be more interested in winning if they new losing/firing actually meant a pay cut. I also hate that if you want to hire away a coach the university is then paying his buyout. To me that should be something the coach is on the hook for to some extend, maybe only allow the hiring university the ability to offset 50% of it or something. Cause as is coaches seem to have zero loyalty. Get fired still get paid, get hired somewhere else they will pay the buyout to poach ya.
Start Jabari Small. The freshman are going to take down a top dog today. Big days for HB, Small, Beckwith, Hyatt, Wideman. One of Omari Thomas and Key will have a takeaway.
