What in the hell makes you guys think Gus is any better? He will be fired within four years if he is the choice. And you guys will hate him too by the time he gets fired.

Any better than... Pruitt? On paper no one comes close. Buuuut I do wonder if his scheme is outdated. Need someone that can throw the rock around the yard.

I just can’t help but think this is our guy if we miss on one or two other candidates.

Grew up on the farm in Caryville. His dad was coach at Campbell County HS and Anderson County HS for a long time. Played QB at ETSU, he camped at Neyland every summer trying to get an offer.

His wife is from Athens and her family owns a car dealership down there and are pretty wealthy/respected in the community.

Grew up a Vol fan. Knows how important Tennessee football is to this community.

He runs a unique offense, has been a head coach for a decade, and has recruiting connections all over the Carolinas.

Oh, and he’s got an undefeated team that’s the talk of the college football world.

You forgot the part where he’s had NCAA trouble and that’s your big knock on Freeze.

The reality is they are all better than Pruitt our fan base is just dumb
Better than Pruitt? Think the point is we want the best our money can buy so we are way better than Pruitt. That's not dumb. Dumb is to continue trying to get a bargain. Just get the best that will come for once.

I’m good with it.

I am fully prepared for us to argue about all of these coaches and scenarios and then have some Co-OC no one thinks about emerge, with some media bits like "rising star that has been gaining buzz for the last couple of years"

Tennessee is at the point where an up and comer isn’t going to work and we’re not getting a name like Stoops or Meyer, that’s fantasy level ish. So the more I think about it, the more Gus makes sense. Tennessee needs stability and someone that can last 4-6 years in Knoxville, maybe more? Tennessee football needs someone to prove that you can consistently win in Knoxville. Gus might just be that guy. Forget the Hot young name, forget the splash hire and make the safe hire that makes the most d@mn sense!
GBO!!

Exactly. I he a long term answer no not at all but Tennessee as we know could do a lot worse. Chadwell and Napier won’t be the guy imo.

Freeze is the obvious choice lol at hubbs mentioning we might not look his way because of a BS investigation then proceeding to mention Chadwell tells me all I need to know about his opinion

In 2018, the NCAA released a detailed report concerning numerous NCAA violations that occurred during Chadwell’s tenure as the CSU head football coach. The violations ranged from using multiple ineligible players to players using scholarship funds to purchase electronics and jewelry from the campus book store. Ultimately, the NCAA sanctions vacated 18 wins from the 2014 and 2015 seasons and the 2015 Big South Championship. Also vacated were three wins over crosstown rival The Citadel, games during which CSU used ineligible players.[1]
How many times are you going to post this today lurker? It’s been explained more than once about the issues Chadwell had.
