The only home run hire is meyer, stoops and freeze. But only One of those guys would easily say yes. It's that simple. We will not get that, tho. We will get a bargain bin coach, a coach that couldn't cut it somewhere else or an up and comer. Then most of you will invent reasons to think it's a good hire. You will jump right back in board and "give him a chance". You will be right back here in 3 or 4 years. Tennessee doesn't hire winning football coaches.

I’m not parting with that $ unless they hire someone like Bob Stoops or Urban Meyer. Gotta see a commitment from them to get my commitment. Freeze or Kiffin would be the closest thing to that though.

They both walked out of stable programs not because they had to but because they wanted to, you have to be more realistic with with your options otherwise you will never be satisfied

I don’t see Freeze exciting the fan base much at all in terms of season tickets. This message board, maybe. But not real money spenders.

If Freeze were hired, who here that isn’t a season ticket holder already, would be persuaded to become a season ticket holder? Let’s say you want to get season tickets in a decent section of the lower level. Say X3, corner end zone, great view of the Jumbotron. That’s one of the more modest donation requirement sections - $500 per seat in donation, and another roughly $500 for the actual game tickets per seat.

So for your family of 4, how many of y’all parting with $4k if Freeze is hired?

I was more than double that for years until the Dools/Botch debacles unfolded. It started going down the year after Dools let a WR turned QB win with the whole Bray/Duh'rick shizzy bowl thing. When they brought orange britches back for another mess of a season, I departed as a donator. When they brought Botch back after the UNC flirtation and tanking of the Sugar Bowl opportunity - the season ticket purchases stopped. That was the last year I visited fall camp practices with VFL friends. That would resume again if UT got serious and invested in what it took to become elite.

My ballpark estimate of lost donations/season ticket sales of that type since Kiffin would be in the 15,000-18,000 range depending on the previous year's success of the wannabe. Sources - UTAD employees and VFL's. Do the math. Then add in the other increases in ticket sales, concessions, licensing, etc.

Hyams saying the investigation started late November or early December. Appears to be “serious” allegations that will look bad, Caller asked if this could be used to fire Pruitt for cause and Hyams said he didn’t know enough about the specifics to say whether that would happen, but didn’t rule it out as a hypothetical.

Also says the Liberty Bowl would “love” to have Tennessee. Assuming they don’t self-ban.

Will be interested to hear from anyone that listens to Doug Matthews whether he is going to be pushing for another year.
