So the only chance we have to fix it is a hopeful or a never gonna happen?

Pruitt it is.
Better to hire a coach that might be terrible than one that has proven to be terrible.

You have three options.

1) Hire a proven winner. Good luck. There are like 8 of them in the country and none of them are coming here.

2) Hire someone who may or may not become a proven winner.

3) Hire a proven loser and steer into the last decade of piss poor football.

2 seems like the only option really. If we are going to choose 3, just save everyone the trouble and keep Pruitt. Or go get an entertaining loser like Mike Leach.

I could mention any coach and someone will find a reason to hate.

Urban- Aaron Hernandez, misses his family, chest pain

Stoops- defensive coach, loses big games, has goofy looking brothers

Saban-lied about leaving the Dolphins, coaches at Alabama and that eliminates him from the search

Bear Bryant- dead

Dabo- punchable fake ass face, played at Alabama and eliminates him from the search

Stability does not bring winning at a high level. Winning at a high level brings stability. Gus is stability without winning at a high level, which is why Auburn fired him.

While I’m not advocating for or against Gus, the same could be said for Rick Barnes after Texas. New environments and a fresh start can result in success.

I actually feel like Malzahn is one of the lower risk moves we could make.
It only feels like a low risk move because his ceiling here is 9 wins. Dude could easily win 3 games here any given season. Just match his offenses with Pruitt’s defenses. Perfect recipe for 4 wins next year.

I was trying to say this yesterday. Not a perfect pick for all.

He's had some of the luckiest wins I've ever seen, but that's not really what I meant.

They paid Gus 22 million dollars to leave and THEN TRIED TO HIRE HIS DC. What does that tell you about who the mastermind of Auburn's success the last 5 years is? And I use success very loosely here. How is that not a giant red flag? "We'll get rid of Gus, keep everyone else, and we will be winning championships."

They paid 22 million dollars to do addition by subtraction, and that's the guy y'all want.

It may say more about Steele being a bit of snake in the grass for all we know.

You are talking about the same school whose AD met with Bobby Petrino at an airport behind Tuberville’s back and didn’t fire Tuberville...for another like 3-4 years. Auburn May be more dysfunctional than UT.
