He's had some of the luckiest wins I've ever seen, but that's not really what I meant.

They paid Gus 22 million dollars to leave and THEN TRIED TO HIRE HIS DC. What does that tell you about who the mastermind of Auburn's success the last 5 years is? And I use success very loosely here. How is that not a giant red flag? "We'll get rid of Gus, keep everyone else, and we will be winning championships."

They paid 22 million dollars to do addition by subtraction, and that's the guy y'all want.

You are talking about the same school whose AD met with Bobby Petrino at an airport behind Tuberville’s back and didn’t fire Tuberville...for another like 3-4 years. Auburn May be more dysfunctional than UT.

They also hired Chizik, a guy who had a total of 5 wins in his 2 seasons prior (only two seasons as a HC)

Idk I think it’s a little different, now don’t get me wrong Gus has won in the SEC. Mullen’s career trajectory was better than GM’s and he had less to work with at MSU. Gus had a lot more resources and talent at AU. But I don’t think we can really be complaining about Gus considering what we’ve had lol.

Gus is Mr. 8-4. Career record is literally exactly 8-4. 66% win percentage. We would have fired Butch eventually if he kept going 8-4.

8-4 would have been Jones’s high-water mark. Not quite as good as 8-4 being your average. Slightly easier division might be enough to add a win or two to that average as well.

Check Gus's record against the East. It isn't very good. He wouldn't suddenly add a win or two over here IMO. He's also abysmal against UGA.

What coaches excite you?

I've been very clear. I believe Freeze is the right guy for several reasons. He can be had. He checks the boxes coaching wise. He's right at that elite tier IMO. Considering the mess right now, I think he's the perfect guy for the job. Both Tennessee and him can re-invent themselves together. Also, he would definitely excite the fanbase and sell a lot of tickets.

Call it a gut feeling or whatever, to me he is the obvious choice.

After that, I would say Campbell, Chadwell or Napier, not necessarily in that order..

I get the logic behind hiring Gus and respect those of that opinion. I'mdefinitelynot going to call someone dumb as hell for wanting him, I just don't get "the feels" for him. The hire doesn't excite me at all.
