Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

I feel for him, but he has to have an idea on where he stands right now. How long do you keep someone because of a loss? I lost my grandad two days before a tax deadline. I went to the funeral and then worked that night and the next day. I am sorry for him, but it can’t be used as an excuse to keep him for another year.

Lol waiting a few days is drastically different than keeping him for another year.

And doing taxes isn’t the same thing as being fired.

Even if you don’t want Freeze. The floor of this hire is Napier or Chadwell. I’ll take that any day of the week over keeping Pruitt. The 2022 class is a class we can’t miss on. Retaining Pruitt and having a bad season, loses those recruits and we are screwed. It could be viewed in the same light as not getting Lawrence and Etienne. We can’t afford to not lock this state up.
I'm not as confident about the floor, past coaching searches have taught me to expect the bracket we talk about here being unrealistic. It is what it is, maybe we break the cycle though.

The leak came from some that want Pruitt gone in the dept. Word from Trey's camp, who received/confirmed the leaks.

Forget who (AV/LA?) said it, but he definitely has pissed some people off.
Who pissed people, Pruitt?

Iirc from what AV and others have said, he’s hard to work with and firing a coach mid game didn’t do him any favors. As much as I hate the phrase, that just has really “bad optics” to any potential coaches that he might try to bring in, should he be retained, between that and being a dead man walking, Pruitt isn’t going to be able to get any good coaches to come here.

Unfortunately people here have zero sympathy or himself compassion behind a keyboard
I have deep sympathy for Pruitt's loss of his grandfather. It's rough to lose a loved one. But Pruitt's attitude is what really sparks most fans frustration and anger. And UT's apathy towards its fans just amps it all up to extreme levels. IF Pruitt is getting fired, we can't necessarily wait until it's convenient for his emotions. Not like he considered Brumbaugh's feelings when he fired him mid-game. Sometimes you just have to rip the band-aid off. The longer this drags on, the more convinced I am he's our coach next year.

Here’s something for you all to stew on: Pruitt hasn’t been interviewed by compliance yet.

Allow yourselves to imagine why it might be beneficial for the administration to get that interview on the books before making a decision.

Then where did the information that he had lied to Compliance come from?

It is literally the day of his grandfather’s funeral. Today. It’ll be ok if we wait.

That being said, I have zero faith we move on from him anyway.

I'm starting to warm up to him being a legit option but with his resume that's an awfully big jump. If absolutely no chance at Freeze I'm holding out hope that a run is made at Fleck. I'm a Harsin fan as well but he probably stays out West.
Very big jump. I have no reason to lie and say I think he's a guaranteed success.

But if our recent history is any indication, we will not hire a "sure thing" as Pruitt's replacement. Chadwell has some things that give me pause, but I think the combination of operating his own program for 10 years, being an East TN native and understanding the complexity and size of the job, and running a fun and innovative offense, I think he could succeed.

Tennessee is a much bigger football operation than Ole Miss, so the comparison isn't apples to apples, but I could see it being a fit like Freeze to Oxford was initially. He knew the school and knew the recruiting area - and that created a lot of initial excitement.

DPs comments are a sad, pathetic excuse of an attempt to save face for UTs admins who want to keep Pruitt. 100% loser mentality

Whatever department DP works in, it needs to be purged completely. The attitude of that department, while it may be well-meaning, is the epitome of why the last 15 years have gone the way they have in football. You cannot run an athletic department with a mealy-mouthed, self-rationalizing, scared to lose attitude and get anything other than what we've been served.

We are idiots if we let Napier go to Auburn. He wants UT. I hate this administration. If Auburn hires Napier and we don’t fire Pruitt, I don’t want to hear anything about how this university cares about winning. And remember some trying to say fans don’t have much say? Please! Auburn was going to hire Steele and the fans freaked. We can do the same, it’s time to start letting them know.

Plenty of reason to be upset. Missing out on Napier ain’t one of them

I really think if they were going to fire him, it would have happened yesterday. I could be wrong of course.
