Hell, Arkansas fired Chad Morris after his 2nd year. There was no talk about a year 0 or building a program. They hired an OL coach and tied UT in wins during his 1st year after 2 winless SEC seasons.

Short game. Play the long game. Butch was better than Pruitt. Just because he's better does not make him the right fit. We need the right fit otherwise we are just hitting rewind every 3 to 4 years.

The problem is it’s not one class. This class is average and not good. If next years is worse then we put ourselves two classes back. Sounds just like Butch and it set us back years.

So do you actually buy the narrative that there are no good hires available out there? If so, what constitutes a good hire to you?

Well, he is under a five year contract now and here's the kicker, if he's fired without cause, he will receive his entire buyout and it will not be offset by any coaching monies he makes anywhere else.

So anyway Phil isn't the primary decision maker here, but he clearly isn't just a figure head either.

This is why you don't run your AD like a glory days reunion. They met for the super secret meeting last night. After 6 hours of reminiscing about 98, it was 2 in the morning and they had to table discussions for the night.

The right fit is a guy who wins more than 3 games in year 3. And not just anomalous, close losses. Double digit ass whippings.

If we can't get anyone else then sure. I'd rather go 7-5/8-4 than 3-9/4-8. Seriously though, if we strike out on everyone else, hire him. He may not be available in 2021.
