Disagree with at least part of this. One thing I do agree with, Bob Stoops would be the perfect choice, but it's not happening. Matt Campbell would be next on my list. Before the whole NCAA scandal thing, Freeze probably would have been my next choice, but I'm not sure that's still tenable. Not in on Gus at all. The floor should be Napier. He has experience as a HC, more so than Chadwell. I don't think Chadwell is there yet. Chadwell is a guy I'd have zero qualms hiring as an OC, but just couldn't pull the trigger on as a HC yet.To me, the state of UT's program right now requires someone that has SEC head coaching experience and it can't be a high level coordinator with some SEC experience. I believe Campbell, Napier, and even Chadwell are great coaches but I don't think they're ready for the head coaching position at TN, there's too much to repair internally before the product on the field can be better. Freeze and Gus are the ones that know what they'd be walking into and the 2 realistic candidates that could stabilize the program. (Freeze would bring the most excitement of those 2 and to me the obvious choice.)
Tennessee really needs a head coach to give total control to, like an Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops but I don't see either one of them taking the job. Or, do I ever see UT even giving up total control of the football program.
I would say it depends on how serious UT is about wanting to win. I didn't see Jimbo Fisher to A&M coming, but they decided they wanted to be taken seriously and win games and ponied up the money to get him. UT has the money to get serious if they wanted to.Who is a slam dunk hire besides Freeze that is realistic?

Fulmer is too polarizing a figure to be AD. He has to go. We need a guy that can get the boosters on the same page, and keep them happy enough to leave things alone. Behind the scenes, our program is a mess. The entire AD needs a thorough cleaning. To borrow a phrase from one of Hank's choices, we need everyone to "row the boat" in the same direction. We don't have that. We don't even have close to that. And that's why we continue to fail.
He never went after the AD job. He stepped in during all the turmoil when Currie was fired. It was always going to be a short term thing for him and he's doing what he believes is right to get the football program stabilized. Pruitt was a very quick hire under bad circumstances. Obviously, there are people over there that believe he has UT going in the right direction. Right or wrong, that's just what it is right now.And some people still believe Fulmer is cut out to be the AD?
I would be a little surprised if there wasn’t some wording in there regarding ncaa investigations. Obviously a bit of a double edged sword and I hope we don’t have oneHubbs made a good point today on the Midday 180 in Nashville. It’s extremely difficult to find cause when firing someone. He said Currie was directly insubordinate of Davenport during the coaching search fiasco and he still got his buyout money.
