Signing off and buying a maroon pirate suit once that is official.
Well bye...and don't come back if we ever get it turned around, I am a Vol win or lose till I die...the only other school I have ever rooted for at all was USF when I lived in T-Bay...but I will always bleed orange.

The state of UT's program right now requires someone that has SEC head coaching experience and it can't be a high level coordinator with some SEC experience. I believe Campbell, Napier, and even Chadwell are great coaches but I don't think they're ready for the head coaching position at TN, there's too much to repair internally before the product on the field can be better. Freeze and Gus are the ones that know what they'd be walking into and the 2 realistic candidates that could stabilize the program. (Freeze would bring the most excitement of those 2 and to me the obvious choice.)

Tennessee really needs a head coach to give total control to, like an Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops but I don't see either one of them taking the job. Or, do I ever see UT even giving up total control of the football program.

Campbell is a real f'n football coach, and given time he could rebuild this program.

Maybe Pruitt just makes some of us gun shy because of the way he is. But most guys handle that stuff fairly well. We really have no idea how he’d handle without seeing it real time.
That's my turn off with the guys that have no SEC head coaching experience. This hire has to be successful. I'm not saying National Championship in year 3, I'm just wanting stability at this point. Once we get that back, then worry about the playoffs. We need 3 years of stability, not on the job training

The people in charge don't have the balls to do but the reaction to Freeze being hired would be a once in a lifetime.

Fans around the conference would immediately start screaming cheaters... and feel worried.

National media runs every rumor mill story they can going back to high school.

Freeze immediately starts making fun of Auburns coaching search... and tells Mullen to just come clean... It will feel better.

Starts joking with Kiffin about dividing up the SEC east and west.

Talks so much about how he's not here for second place that Kirby starts to suck his thumb.

Best of all... He would win. A lot.

But, we have a Pruitt.

I agree and I like Campbell but can he handle everything else that the UT job comes with? It's a lot to take on. This isn't like when Kiffin got hired and a "smooth transition" from a winning head coach to a relatively SEC unknown, this has to be someone to get us out of the ditch. A proven SEC experienced head coach.

The problem is it’s not one class. This class is average and not good. If next years is worse then we put ourselves two classes back. Sounds just like Butch and it set us back years.
Our classes have been better than Ky's and AR's every year for a while now. How's that worked out? We can get the number one class every year and if we squander it, it doesn't matter.
