I actually ran the numbers comparing BCS and CFP, and they are hardly any different. Every decade, there's essentially a handful of teams that have a legitimate chance of competing, and 1 or 2 teams that come out of nowhere for 1 or 2 years (LSU, Tennessee). Some teams enter the fray (Clemson) and some leave (Miami, FSU). CFP hasn't changed anything.

We think it's worse now because of the changing baselines. We quickly forget that the biggest argument for the CFP was the argument just made against it. That the BCS system caused all the best players to go to the handful of schools with a legit shot.
There was at least hope. It's getting worse every year. Playoffs just made the BCS worse. The bowls were at least fun. For a playoff to work there would have to be some Cinderellas allow in.

If Gus and Freeze run a very similar ship, why freeze over Gus?
Just looked at gus’s overall record and it’s like 77-38. Thats prettt damn good.
I know his O is gimmicky, but I’ve read here from dozens that Hugh runs a similar O.
Just trying to rationalize the train of thought here...
My guess is that most believe Freeze schemes it better against his opponents and probably develops QBs better.

Gus is an offensive coach that won the bulk of those games with Kevin Steele's defense. Glossing over the fact that Auburn paid Gus 22 million dollars to leave just to keep the same staff would be the mistake of a lifetime. Nothing else needs to be said for who really deserves credit for those wins.
