Duh. Whoever thinks we’re gonna hire someone we actually want is just ignoring our history. It’s not what we do. We aren’t actually THAT serious about football.

The Freeze talk was fun. Also it’ll never happen here.
That would be too simple to unite the fanbase, hire a proven, exciting, SEC winner that WANTS to be here.

Just too easy 🤡

If they do pull the plug, I want them to wait till tomorrow after the b ball game.

They are great team and shouldn’t be overshadowed. That would give UT 7 days till our next game to get a new coach in place.

I don't know what Atl Vol said. And I'm not trying to challenge him or call him out. That was another poster's doing. Fulmer has been in Pruitt's corner all along. And he has money people with him. But that doesn't give Fulmer the authority to "block" anything. The AD has power, but the authority to override is up the chain.

The Barnes situation was that policy in action. If Boyd thinks a certain move is the right one, he has the power to make it. If he wants to use booster money to fire and hire, he can make that call. He can also decide to support his AD, if he thinks that's in the best interest of the university. He has broader responsibilities and greater authority than the AD. That's the bottom line.

Again, I'm not trying to pick a fight. But UT works how UT works.
The question is, does Boyd back Fulmer?

Man they did end up making a good hire. Wish I knew the feeling!
That would be a fine hire, but a bit overrated imo. He walked into a dominant program(vs their schedule) and he's averaged ~10 ppg margins, but 10 win regular seasons. That says he's winning a lot of close games in other words. Only +7 ppg this season. Petersen was averaging 18 ppg during their MWC years, for context. 30+ before the move.

But they should be happy, after this mess, with a decent hire.

PHEW. Exhale, those wanting a Freeze Warning.

@Johnny Majors' Ghost right now

Napier turned down Auburn. Brown is at West Virginia. Freeze was just called by auburn and has coached in the SEC. Sign me up.
Napier is still unproven to some extent. Brown is still at West Virginia. Hiring Freeze will be difficult on multiple levels. None of the coaches you've mentioned have taken other jobs.

I do wonder if it's an upgrade, though. I could see Gus delivering similar seasons at BSU. And it's funny that both had stints at ASU (as did Freeze).
