Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

I think he is a safer than Chadwell but i think i like Chadwell better for some reason.

I get that. I like them both a lot. People say Chadwell is gimmicky. I don't agree at all. His offense is pure and possibly where college football is headed in the future. Offense is cyclical. I think the option game is coming back around. You see it with RPO's. That's all that is. You're just reading a 2nd or 3rd level defender instead of a Dlineman. And the option changes from a pitch to a pass. You want somebody that's going to run against welcoming fronts and will take advantage through the air when teams sell out to stop the run. Football is not that complicated. Some coaches make it hard on themselves by trying to man up and push everybody around. That's not realistic and doesn't put your team in position to succeed.

Can he recruit? That's a good question but if Butch and Dooley could Chadwell could imo. Especially if he has any early success.

Napier makes a lot of sense too. His offense reminds me a lot of what Freeze and Mullen do.

I would take Freeze over both only because we've seen him succeed at a high level. But we may regret passing on one of these guys.

If you believe our list will look similar to Auburn's, I think my preference, in order, would be:

Gus (obviously not on Auburn's list)
Chadwell
Neal Brown
Napier
Tony Elliot

Kevin Steele

I don't think you can do his job for as long as he has without meeting a few influential people. He was dead wrong on Lovie Smith and when you are wrong once, you are branded.

Hes no Jimmy but I he was credited for last search for something when a lot of people said there’s no way TB could be right or out front with information

You realize how bad Ole Miss’ defense has been since Freeze got busted? Even Matt Luke couldn’t improve the defense over multiple seasons. The only way to counter a bad defense is a bad ass offense. Kiffin did that in year 1. Ole Miss didn’t have a treasure trove of talent in defense. Will take a season or two to get one built.

That’s why you hire offensive guys in first place. Even if they have a horrid defense, they can still run an offense that scores and keeps them in games. Hiring defensive guys these days ain’t smart. Even with a good or steady defense, they aint sh!t without a strong offense.
The no talent excuse does not hold water when you are the worst in the entire country and Not Arkansas.

I've gone back and forth about Chadwell. I think too big a job for him. Offense is interesting, but IMO probably more gimmicky. Would need to pass more IMO. They run 66% of the time compared to us running 57% of the time. Albeit, I don't know much about his passing concepts

Cant help but think Napier is just gonna sit tight and coach at Louisiana and wait for Bama or Clemson to open down the road. His stock can keep rising for a long time there. If he fails at one of these tougher SEC jobs he basically turns into Chad Morris.

It is his job to proactively call recruits and lie to them. That seems insane.
Lol. Happens all the time. Brohm was a deal here and on a recruiting visit when Hyams broke him being our next coach. Then he backed out because it leaked. As long as you are employed, you have to do your job until you are officially gone.

I’d honestly love to see us fire Pruitt and promote Tee to HC, I’ve watched him on the sidelines, he’s a leader... the guys respect him and I think he’d let Chaney call plays without throwing in some gimmick **** at the most in opportune times. I think he’s a guy others would love to play and work with. That is what we need
I don't think Fulmer, or anyone over there, wants to go the coordinator route again if Pruitt is not coming back. They need a head coach who can be a head coach and let his assistants do their jobs.

He is basically convinced that it is being worked behind the scenes that Pruitt is going to get fired. He did say that he could be kept as well, so just stating his opinion.

Thanks.

Given that neither the DL coach opening or (presumed) OL coach opening are getting any real discussion, and the Twitter account is idle, there is certainly reason to suspect that there is more happening than immediately apparent.
