We do have a definitive answer - Pruitt is HC. It is bad PR, but they do not have to publicly announce that he is coming back
No we don’t. Literally every podcaster, analyst, and journalist who follows this program still says things are up in the air and the sooner it gets settled the better. We need a public statement specifically addressing the situation. This is ridiculous.

So if it's possible to get Hardy, Big Kat, and Gilbert amiss this chaos, DEWIT!.... we gonna need all the help we can get.

Chadwell makes a lot of sense right now.... His stock is high and we could get him for cheap. Pruitt makes $4 million a year. If fired, I think he would make around $2 million a year in buyout. I bet Chadwell would come for $2.5-3 million. You already have $1 million a year saved to pay half the buyout. And a new coach will bring in much more in ticket sales. And since he would love this job, I doubt it will be a problem having Steele and other VFLs on staff with a mix of his own staff. It makes sense why people are saying Chadwell is highly likely.

Pruitt meets with UT lawyers tomorrow.

I don't think Steele is being considered as an interim coach for the 2021 season. Naming him as interim now (if Pruitt is fired) would be short term until the next hire is in place. I would expect Steele to get an interview for the head coaching job, but I think that's a tough sell.

Bringing Steele in, with Tee and Jay on staff and Fulmer in the AD chair, is an attempt to rebuild the "Tennessee way," for lack of a better term. A new head coach will have to be on board with and fit into it.
The Tennessee way hadn’t worked since 1999. Maybe we should hire freeze and start beating people again.

Just when it seems other teams are about to catch up to our dysfunction, UT gotta be like "hold my beer". Why? Why can't we let another team be the embarrassment of the SEC and NCAA for awhile? I'm ready to laugh at other teams and stop crying over my own. This really sucks.

Oh to be in the middle of the Texas A&M game and #9 in the country again with all the momentum...

BUT IT WAS ALL A FACADE. just like everything else in the past 13 years
"Strength and conditioning..what is that? What idiot thinks you need strength or conditioning to compete in the SEC when you have an infallible system? Watch here..I'm going to show them"...................Botch Jonze spring 2016

The number show he didn’t regress though. It’s kinda hard to improve when your 1 year mentor gets drafted and you’re left running the show without much help on either side of yourself, imo.
Plus you are not even allowed on campus to work with your team or coaches..... when do people think players improve?

More nepotism is the answer. I'm sure that will work out great. Firing an all Tennessee staff and AD because they weren't qualified in the first place will be great for the program.
Yeah, I'm 50/50 on it, but I think there is some merit to this strategy. We have been totally unstable for over a decade at this point, and for 30 years before that, we were the picture of stability. Why? Because we had Tennessee people doing things the Tennessee way.

It makes sense to me that we want to build something that doesn't get washed out any time a head coach leaves or gets fired - Wisconsin and Stanford come to mind as examples of this working today.

Same reason you want a certain percentage of your recruiting classes to be instate guys. Glue guys that are more vested in the Power T because it means more to them than even professional aspirations.

Nott to beat a dead horse, but let’s go back to JG. Do we know for certainty it was Pruitt who kept trotting him out there or was he doing what Chaney wanted him to do?
Could change our whole perception of Pruitt and his perceived micromanaging?
Sorry if I missed that somewhere, but just curious.
Pruitt was the face of “he gives us the best chance to win.” and issued the “Jarrett had a legendary week of practices!” updates.
