The blood clot thing was already known by doctors and draft analysts prior to the last two seasons yet he was projected as a Top 20 pick. Now it's a 2nd round projection for the young man.
Mock drafts. Go down the one’s issued before the season and contrast/compare after the Combine and Pro Days...THEN the actual draft order. Nothing Science!

Yeah, I'm 50/50 on it, but I think there is some merit to this strategy. We have been totally unstable for over a decade at this point, and for 30 years before that, we were the picture of stability. Why? Because we had Tennessee people doing things the Tennessee way.

It makes sense to me that we want to build something that doesn't get washed out any time a head coach leaves or gets fired - Wisconsin and Stanford come to mind as examples of this working today.
It doesn't have anything to do with hiring "Tennessee guys" IMO. We were stable because we were good. We arr unstable because we are bad.

Firing Fulmer and replacing him with someone who bolted after one season left a bad taste in people's mouth for sure. But what about Dooley and Butch? Neither of them had a loyalty problem. They had a problem with winning games.

What if Butch and Dooley were "Tennessee guys"? They would have lost just as many games, except they probably would have been kept a year longer than they were because of nepotism. And we could conceivably be in an even worse position than we are now.

Tldr version: Just hire who you think will win the most games. Tennessee sucks. It has sucked for a long time. And time has passed by on the people that were around when it didn't. So if you hire a Tennessee guy, the chances are pretty high you are going to hire a loser.

And then not only are you giving the fans a losing program. You are giving them the added bonus of ultimately having to fire their child hood heroes and great VFLs. It's just crazy. We should not do that.

We do have a definitive answer - Pruitt is HC. It is bad PR, but they do not have to publicly announce that he is coming back
So you don’t think the findings of this investigation could cause UT to let him go? You think they’re doing all this just for fun but always planned to keep Pruitt?

Pruitt was asked what he would tell the fans, and he said, "that's not my job. My job is to coach football."

...I believe that's what you are referring to.
He said this in frustration after a loss and after answering that same question about 112 times. The previous 111 times he said something to the effect of.....this fanbase is passionate and doesn't like losing and I understand that, but no one hates losing more than me....which I thought was a good, honest answer.

"Strength and conditioning..what is that? What idiot thinks you need strength or conditioning to compete in the SEC when you have an infallible system? Watch here..I'm going to show them"...................Botch Jonze spring 2016
It was more towards the narrative that Butch didn’t listen to his players. Then a group led by JRM, met with him wanting Lawson fired and Szerszen promoted. Butch didn’t seem to ever stick to his guns that actually worked.

What if. Pruitt sold the admin on an All Star staff and they're waiting to see who he can bring in?

A fundamental truth many of you are missing:

A fish rots from the head.

Pruitt could hire Neyland, Rockne, Dodd, Cafego, and Freeze, and UT would still suck. Some of you put too much stock into assistants. We need a CEO that knows how to delegate, manage personnel, and make prudent in-game decisions. Until then, no all-star staff will overcome the suckage that is Sir Cornbread himself.

Doesn't Steele and Pruitt have different defensive philosophies? It would seem difficult for Steele to be Pruitt's Defensive Coordinator if so. This leads me to believe that either Pruitt is gone and Steele will be an interim or the DC for the next coach or Steele is only going to be a position coach under Pruitt. In other words, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!

I always thought Steele ran a 4-3 scheme while Pruitt runs a 3-4 but I could be wrong

No one does.

All of those names cepting Freeze have perished...so I would have an issue with that announcement.

Then I would question their intelligence. How many "great staffs" does Pruitt need to assemble, underperformed, and ultimately disband before THE AD realizes there is no staff you can assemble that will make him a good HC.

With the staff turnover rate, how could Pruitt even convince them this all star staff is even going to be around by the time the season starts? How many of them is Pruitt going to fire mid practice or mid game? Ridiculous.
