This is absolutely the biggest miss! Shrout and Maurer are talented, but their ceilings were always very low.

Recruiting an elite QB usually takes time (i.e. more than 6 months) unless your HC is a former elite OC or known as a QB guru, which Pruitt is neither of those obviously. We have seen the ability to land MUCH better talent the last two years after having time to build relationships.

Shrouds arm is second to none and has NFL talent. His ceiling is very high. He just wasn’t coached well.

There's no way y'all can tell me Wanya and Crouch aren't good players or we don't need them. They haven't been developed! Wanya looked like an all American his freshman year. Crouch is a freak athlete that's been put in a terrible position to succeed. Tired of seeing folks act like these guys aren't good.

Easy on the All American.. Not taking up for Friend, but it's not hard to see Wanya loves is his social life.. Lives on social media.. there's a reason he was in quarantine for an ungodly amount of days..
I'd like to see QC shift back outside.. he looked much imporved towards the end of the year rushing the passer.

They run completely different defenses and Steele doesn't like meddling. He told Gus to keep out of his defense. Doesn't add up that this was Pruitt's hire.

Gus is an offense guy who doesnt know jack about D, I imagine Pruitt will have much more in common.

I get on VN when I am waiting on clients, but I have to drive for several hours sometimes before I get a break. During a search this place goes nuts and a couple of hours in the morning usually puts you ten to twenty behind.

And his assistants kept it up with secondary violations after that fact. One of the rare times I have insider information on this one, but one of the deciders told me me directly. They were willing to ride with Pearl, but his assistants kept doing dumb s@#$ and getting caught, and they decided they needed to cut bait.

Brought in to try keep as many recruits on defense as possible when Pruitt is fired. I think the new coach is already been decided, just not announced. Jmo. Tomorrow I’ll probably have a whole different outlook. Lol

Henry T regressed. Crouch is at this time a lower echelon SEC lb. Gray has only succeeded because of natural talent. Still doesn’t break or elude tackles like he should. Trey Smith is likely a third/ fourth round pick. He regressed in 2020.

It really feels like the whole team prepared like they collectively thought this year was a throwaway year. My guess is that they picked that attitude up from the staff.

He was very successful there. What they disliked was his recruiting but go back and review some of Gurley’s greatest hits and you will see line play that puts everyone but Trey to shame. Seriously you and I could’ve set records with the lines he had there.

I wouldn’t be surprised by this at all. It’s actually much better than just hiring a guy from the leftovers. With an interim you can spend the next 10 months planning the replacement. It’s what we should have done post Kiffin with Kippy Brown.

I can always tell if news hits big by page count. If I’m off for a few hours and only 10-15 pages have posted I know it’s mostly that Dusty fella mocking everyone for thinking change will come or @utvols88 posting soccer gifs.
If I see 30-40 pages are rolling, somebody dropped a nugg. Not to be confused with dropping a chief (older posters should appreciate that reference).

Timing, IMO. The teams riding high at that moment became the upper echelon in the eyes of recruits. There used to be Top 25 and Top 10 in their eyes. That would put s as lot more teams in relatively equal light giving parity a chance to shift things around

Now, Top 10 and 25 means little. Did you make the playoffs? The rich get richer, and good luck breaking through

About 5 teams have the potential to establish themselves in that group, but very little others would

parity was supposed to differentiate CFB from NFL, and so on. Scholly restrictions, signing limits, dead periods, and further a weak NCAA have enabled this to happen.

I love memory of CFB. But that is what it is. Maybe Ive grown out of it but, NFL looks much more appealing these days.
