Someone on TOS responded to a question about Davis with “why would he want this mess???” And I think they’re right.

Also, no thanks to McKenzie as AD. Running an NFL team is significantly different than an entire AD.

Ran a 3-4 at both Bama and Clemson. What he ran at Auburn wasn’t the traditional 4-3 imo.

1. He's an adult, been a HC. Would take a HC job over an OC
2. He did well at PSU under sanctions.
3. If the Haslams are back in charge, as much as I like Kiffin, I think they get an NFL guy.

If they let him hire assistants, that would be a very strong indication their plan is to make him the permanent HC. Why would you let an "acting head coach" or an interim head coach make staff hires, especially multi-year staff hires?

Depends on the timeframe of acting HC. If it’s for a few months, you’re absolutely right. If we get hit with sanctions and he’s the guy to lead us through them for a season or two, he needs position coaches. We can’t have all remaining position coaches handle all the vacant slots. It all depends on the sanctions and whether or not anyone else would take this job given the potential hardships. I don’t like either scenario but if no one will come, he needs to build a staff for his tenure to provide adequate coaching to our players not opting to transfer.

Charles has been around the NFL and I'm sure they've talked. I feel like it would be someone who he is comfortable with.
