AP on VQ took Steele verses the field this morning. This isn't me telling myself anything. Steele is also the betting favorite. We are trying to convince ourselves that UT is different this time. That they'll spend big money and hire a big name who will save us. But they're going to do what they always do. They're going to hire Steele.

AP is still bent that his buddies on the hill got fired. I’ve yet to see a single outlet of Steele being the betting favorite. Not saying they aren’t out there but I have yet to see one.

It would be awfully stupid if we hired Steele and didn’t already discuss this with some potential head coaches to be sure they would be ok with it. If we hired Steele and we are going to force him onto the next coach, that would also be insanely stupid. Only logical explanation is they hired Steele to be the head coach (Lord please don’t let this be true) or they already know who they are targeting for head coach and they approved of it. If not, we will be lucky to land UTC’s head coach.

Remember when they said Steele's contract was complicated and was like 30 pages in length? They could have stipulated that a new coach could terminate with no penalty.

Plowman and Boyd aren’t the old admin. They’re not gonna take anyone’s BS. If they say the next head coach is gonna be “a proven winner” then by god it’s going to be. I don’t care what anyone in the media says

@Bassmaster_Vol we didn't investigate ourselves to fire HC and AD to hire Steele. He is a place holder for a real coach. Take a step back. Stop listening to state run radio, I repeat, Stop listening to state run radio.

Let it play out. Ingram will be hired as AD early next week and he will get the best candidate available. His track record shows that.

This is my fear. What do these people know to make Steele the betting favorite? We all want to believe it'll be someone better, but maybe we're just kidding ourselves again?

Roster is better now. But our best signee in 2021 is gone, sounds like Gray, Crouch, Henry, Wright, and maybe others are gone also. Wanya is gone. If all of that happens our roster isn't that much better. The 2020-21 class is all we have at that point if none of them leave besides Brooks.

yep because he would still get his Auburn buyout. New coach may or may not want Steele, suspect he will be interviewed but no guarantees.

If Steele is going to be the HC and they know it then they are wasting time by not announcing it. Wasting time for recruiting, staff building, and retaining players.
You also don’t have Steele meet with an AD that is heading out the door to determine the staff hirings.

I don’t think UT would hire Bill O’Brian. If I remember correctly he was the HC and General Manager at Houston. That speaks wanting total control to me and idt UT would ever give that to anyone.

I’d argue we’re much better off now than last time. Roster is much better and Fulmer is gone. AV and others have said he’s been a big problem attracting good coaches.

The reasonable candidate pool imo vs jobs open is also much better than in searches past.
