I’d like Kiffin to be hired too. But some fans are Kiffin or we failed. It’s dumb.

How did Pruitt having southern ties workout for us Hubbs. VQ sucks I sware. They’re just mad their buddy Steele isn’t getting the job.
Fair. But Pruitt’s southern ties aren’t what made him unsuccessful. It was probably the most successful part about him. He’s was just a bad coach with southern ties. I still think it’s important to get someone who knows how things work here. People said one of the reasons they didn’t want Petersen is because he wouldn’t fit down here. I don’t think it’s ridiculous to think Butch would’ve been a little more successful here if he understood the south better and had better ties (I’m not defending Butch btw. I bought 4 rounds of drinks at a bachelor party the night he was fired.) lol

yeah, it is.

and it really doesn't matter what coach you hitch your wagon to...the vast majority of us are gonna be WRONG at the end of the day....

so i'd keep an open mind. lol....i know, big ask.

Okay, let’s do a logic game like the last couple of days: I have two questions regarding Campbell.

1) Why would he take this job over bigger openings?

2) He will probably get an NFL job in a couple years so why make this move now?

Butch had two top 5 recruiting classes. I don’t think not having southern ties led him to not being able to recruit this area

“Campbell has no southern experience. Never has worked in the south, could he recruit in this region/league.”
also Hubbs
This is such outdated thinking. The combination of an elite coach and Tennessee recruits itself. Urban to Florida and Saban coming to LSU didn’t have huge southern exposure

Matt Campbell would win here but he’s short term. Go listen to any Matt Campbell interview, this scope of this job would burn him out in about 3years.

He’s not made for the SEC personality wise. That’s the key to this whole thing. We need a proven head coach who can take the heat of the job.

I’m not really sure who that is. Personally, I really like Shaw. I’ve wanted to hire him the last two cycles. He’s won at Stanford despite major disadvantages. I’d like to see what he could do recruiting on a level playing field.
i agree, on some level with you on Campbell....something about him, and he is a great coach, and the situation he's in, just screams "perfect marriage".....not sure he could plug and play here. i'm willing to find out though, if that's the direction it goes.

i'm not interested in Shaw, at all.

They won 4 games the year before. He showed moderate improvement. But USC is the ultimate test run for what he brings. He is good but not great.

If Kiffin would of had any resemblance of a defense this past year he would of won more games than he did. His defense killed him.

We have the players to have a good defense. With Kiffins offense Tennessee would be immediately better.

Kiffin would actually utilize our TEs and WRs properly. Getting Velus and Hyatt in space.

Iowa state is vandy of the B12. He lead them to a victory over OU for the first time in 25 years and he’s done it multiple times. Taking them to a conference championship game and a top 10 finish is like winning a national title.

You do realize that this Oklahoma team is like past Oklahoma teams?..just making that clear the red River rivalry isn’t a big hit no more and the big 12 is garbage..but if it is him I’ll accept just be sure to mark off conference USA,Big east and big 12 coaches on the list of coaches we have tried that’s had decent years and failed here in the SEC...

this is the conference that makes or breaks coaching careers..I understand we need a coach that players want to play hard for and Campbell most certainly fits that bill but he’s not as proven as y’all think.

- bigger challenge to show case talents outside of coaching. Our football program is a rebuild. On top of that, the completion is better in the SEC. if he came here and was able to beat the Bamas, Georgias, and Floridas, I think it would be more impressive than beating OU and Texas.

- that’s the question I don’t have an answer to.
