I’ve read his posts and can’t find anything that suggests they have their guy. He said prior to White’s announcement he was going to like this AD and the coach he hires. That could mean he would be happy with any hired from the list. Maybe I’m missing it.

I just dont know if that would be realistic. He is the highest paid OC in the country and played there.

Been turning down HC offers all over the place but people on here act like he'd be a horrible hire. I don't remember any of our last 3 coaches turning down opportunities before we offered.

Napier is on this full control trip and has been a HC for 3 years. He’d be another prick who’d start getting snarky with the press at the first sign of adversity. I’m sorry but 3 years as an HC isn’t a large enough sample size to make you break the bank for someone. Congrats you beat up on opponents from a subpar conference.

I agree, I find it hard to believe we publicly nuked our own program to take a flier on Tony Elliot or Neal Brown. We could have swept the violations under the rug like any other SEC program, instead we went nuclear. You don't expose your university to that unless you're going big.

KV, do you think we (fans) are setting ourselves up that a big name P5 proven coach will be hired?

Danny White is impressive and people all over the country respect him. If he can sell that he can cut through the traditional Tennessee BS and protect his coach from overbearing boosters, I don’t think there’s anyone they can’t get. (realistic names, of course)

Tennessee has the money to pay for a coach and the support to win a national title. That goes a long way with competent leadership.

But I think this idea that White or Tennessee has a mandate to hire a sitting P5 head coach is misguided. He can hire whoever he wants.

I will say that as much as I think people are dismissing some quality coaches with hopes of long shot hires, I’m guilty of it to an extent. I really don’t love the idea of PJ Fleck.

Danny White has officially been on the job several hours now. I just don't understand why the coaching search isn't over yet. Extremely disappointed.

He needs to stop sleeping 1/2 hour per night and focus on his job!
