I can’t help but feel like we are overlooking someone. I believe at this point we purely need to be focusing in on someone who is a proven program developer, player developer and developer of young men. If you get someone of that mold on the hill they would have the potential to be successful as soon as year 1 with our current roster. I couldn’t give a crud about recruiting ties to the south and all that mess. Recruiting will come with success. But first you need a good developer to be successful.

I think Campbell meets that criteria but I also believe there is someone out there we are missing that also fits this mold.

Who?

There’s no way we ponied up the money we did for the AD we wanted just to settle on a 1st time head coach. Plowman and Boyd’s comments are almost guaranteeing that. It will be a proven head coach from either college or the NFL that has proven that they can build up a program. No way it’s gonna be Elliot or any other coordinator/first time head coach. This job is too big for that. Especially right now.

If white thinks a coordinator has potential to be better than anyone who would need FU money then he should hire the coordinator. Bottom line is he is going to hire who he thinks will win the most games.
At this time in the program do you take that risk if your him? We will see.

Maybe follow this model:

HC: Bob (the builder) Stoops
OC: Elliot (HC in waiting)
DC: Steele

Other current staff remains as needed.

Would have been able to vet these remaining staffers with Stoops and no one would have been privy to such info....got to love coaching searches!

I still want Kiffin, but would totally be ecstatic with this FU money type scenario

It wouldn’t surprise me if they threw names out to see the reactions...

nobody has a clue. Nobody is gonna get a tip. Nobody is gonna break the story.

Everything will be on DW watch and it won’t matter if we wait 7 hrs or 7 days.

I honestly think ponying up for White was as much about mitigating the potential NCAA sanctions as it was hiring the next coach. Hiring white helps protect the entire athletic department because of his family. We’re also on the verge of taking next steps and becoming powers in basketball, baseball, and men’s golf. I think White can elevate all our programs.
