For this job at this point in time it is and will be viewed that way by most. Sorry it’s just the truth.
Eh, I just don’t think so. In every opening around the country, there’s a healthy mix of coordinator and head coaching options.

The only ones mandating a sitting head coach is the fanbase because we want the total opposite of Pruitt. Danny White hasn’t been given that mandate.

Chris Petersen to me would be considered a white whale and come completely out of nowhere. He's only 56. Surely he's not done coaching forever. But maybe who knows.

Would he be interested in dealing with recruiting in the south? I don't know about that. But I think he's very capable. The man is on a very short list of head coaches who have been to the Playoffs. Could White sell him on his vision here? Would he even be up to it?

Just seems like an interesting name hanging out there if we're really shooting for the stars.
He couldn’t handle the stress of this job.

You forget that TN doesn't have state income tax. Our 3.5 mil is already more than their 3.5 mil. 6 mil probably close to doubles his salary, but the more important point for him is the assistant coaching pool and what he can pay to retain coaches.
With our current situation, we probably would have to double his current salary because of his current stable employment. He's secure there for a very long time and that's something his family has to decide. Do we give up a sure thing for an unstable position at UT?

But Danny White said from his own mouth that the hire would be a sitting HC.

He’s trending downwards but really only had one truly bad season at Stanford. Also interesting now that Harbaugh can’t get Michigan over the hump. Is he solely responsible for Stanford’s success like a lot of people thought? I think his mediocrity at Michigan makes Shaw look a little better.
My biggest issue with him is, Is he still slow and pro. Can't have that style.

I think this general idea has good application to life in general. But it takes some humility. People that know more than me and have more intel than me have an opinion. Do I accept that their opinion is valid? Or do I just say I will make up my own mind knowing that my opinion is not built on as much knowledge or intel?

Yea i like to think that you don’t get interviews in the NfL from college unless you are elite in some form or fashion.

Mullen/kings bury is viewed as elite with QBs... they get interest/jobs.
Campbell/ruhle is viewed as an elite leader... they get interviews/ jobs.
Lincoln Riley/Ryan day/joe Brady are viewed as an elite offensive minds... they get interest/jobs.

The list goes on but i think there is a reason why Elliot was involved and on radars.

I’d love to get Petersen but he stepped down from coaching due to stress and anxiety.

I don’t see him dealing with the SEC.

taken from the article:

“Earlier this month, ESPN's Josina Anderson reported that Elliott told the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins he wasn't interested in making the leap from Clemson to the NFL as an assistant coach. The first connection that Elliott had to the NFL was with the Seattle Seahawks, who fired Brian Schottenheimer this month.

Elliott’s success running the ball could be a big reason why Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll initially had interest in Elliott for the position.”

Three of the best ran teams currently were interested in him. One being coached by one of the best coaches of all time.
