Hiring a coordinator is not “settling” and should not be viewed as such. There’s no way we ponied up the money we did for the AD we wanted just to settle on a 1st time head coach. Plowman and Boyd’s comments are almost guaranteeing that. It will be a proven head coach from either college or the NFL that has proven that they can build up a program. No way it’s gonna be Elliot or any other coordinator/first time head coach. This job is too big for that. Especially right now.
May be but Plowman and Boyd’s comments over the last couple days indicate they want bigger than a first time HC. They are ready to return TN football to relevance and they’re ready to do it now.I honestly think ponying up for White was as much about mitigating the potential NCAA sanctions as it was hiring the next coach. Hiring white helps protect the entire athletic department because of his family. We’re also on the verge of taking next steps and becoming powers in basketball, baseball, and men’s golf. I think White can elevate all our programs.
Pay attention to contracts, if you can find the details or if they've actually signed contracts. If not and just a agreement could be crucial. Not saying either way but if the contracts are signed then yeah there is no plans to leave but if contracts aren't signed then he could leave n take said staff with him. Just a thought.FWIW - he's not acting like he plans to be a Vol HC.
BREAKING: Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss add Southern Cal assistant
I think this general idea has good application to life in general. But it takes some humility. People that know more than me and have more intel than me have an opinion. Do I accept that their opinion is valid? Or do I just say I will make up my own mind knowing that my opinion is not built on as much knowledge or intel? My argument is look at the people’s opinions of him. You don’t get nfl interest unless you are elite in college. Look at that people the last few years from college that have been on NFL radars.
Joe Brady, Dan Mullen, Ryan day, Lincoln Riley, Matt Campbell, urban Meyer, tony Elliot......
That should tell you all you need to know. It does for me and that’s totally ignoring how fantastic of a recruiter, person, and everything else tony is.
He’s just one of many that we can hire that will do great here.
I think if we hire one this go round, we were told no, again, on multiple occasions.Hiring a coordinator is not “settling” and should not be viewed as such.
We will hire a current head coach....that is all I am saying so don’t ask.
Also if you want a mainstream media guy to listen to...its Chris Lowe....he has contact with some of the FU money these days. Where do you think a lot of those guys get their intel from![]()
I think David Shaw could be interesting. With Stanford's academic standards he has to know his ceiling is capped there. I wonder if he would make the jump to have a chance at a title.
