Chronically under-rated for whatever reason. No doubt from me that he was just as good as Mays, Williams or DiMaggio, or some others that some put ahead of him.

Re B. Stoops, I would assume Danny Dub would have spoken with him before hiring Josh Heupel at UCF, given that Stoops coached Heupel, and then had him on his staff for many years (and eventually fired him as OC to bring in Riley).

Danny Dub would’ve wanted to know the thought process behind that firing to satisfy himself that it was nothing other than a change in philosophy/direction.

There is risk in everyone we've discussed. Even the consensus safest hope, Campbell, has question marks about recruiting imo. He's done ok but fleck has consistently recruited better than him in similar situations. And fleck has his own question marks. My point is I don't think there is a single can't miss option available so they will probably go with who they think has the most upside and not necessarily the safest.

Finally caught up. Don’t think we’re hiring Elliot. It would be an iffy hire, but I think he could do wonders with Bailey and Salter. Would be intriguing. Would need to see his staff. However, I don’t think ‘intriguing’ and ‘need to see his staff’ are what we should be going for with this next HC.

Okay sure. Worked for 3 of the best coaches in the game. Saban said he literally didn’t consider anyone else. Soon as Kirby was gone, Pruitt was the choice. Again, he was extremely highly thought of as a dc. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying or rewriting history.
