There is risk in everyone we've discussed. Even the consensus safest hope, Campbell, has question marks about recruiting imo. He's done ok but fleck has consistently recruited better than him in similar situations. And fleck has his own question marks. My point is I don't think there is a single can't miss option available so they will probably go with who they think has the most upside and not necessarily the safest.

Takes a little bit of luck to get the right fit.

Okay sure. Worked for 3 of the best coaches in the game. Saban said he literally didn’t consider anyone else. Soon as Kirby was gone, Pruitt was the choice. Again, he was extremely highly thought of as a dc. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying or rewriting history.

This is the most unproductive week I've had since Pruitt was hired

I started new job and have no chance of looking at my phone during the day. Every night this week I come home and I’m like 100 pages behind. I try to go along with the conversation and try to figure out what the hell yall are talking about. It’s tough not going to lie.

The biggest thing I want to see,although there’s plenty of other more obvious things, from our new HC is to have that killer instinct on the field. Oh UT is up by 30 in the 4th with the backups in? So what, the backups are actually playing the game rather than handing the ball off, getting zero experience.

I know we are suppose to hate Saban around here, but I really admire this about him. He’s even said it many times, “we play like there’s no score board”. This was one of CBJ major faults. We would get up on some very good teams in the first Q and try to ride the game out, shutting down what was clearly working. Then the defense would be gassed by the 4th from our O going 3 and out all game, then everyone(including VN)would dog the defense.

Bottom line, if you are a coach that doesn’t keep going then it’s a dead give away that you aren’t the answer. I’ve never seen(atleast in recent times) a championship style coach who played it safe.

I completely forgot about Fitzgerald. He checks off every box on our list outside of being an exciting innovative offensive mind. Pair him up with the right OC and that would be a home run in my book.

Here my Elliott theory. People were throwing out major names we were interested in and it was very important these names not officially leak. Search firm hired to lock things down further with NDA etc. they can also provide support to White without involving AD folks.

So leak Elliott as you see him as a potential fit in the future or as a fallback. It’s good for Elliott to be linked to.

So who are the coaches that wouldn’t want to be publically linked to get a raise?

Campbell as he already talked about staying
Kiffin as he is hiring people and just signed an extension.
Shaw as he has never given the impression.

To a lesser degree: Cristobal

Now who is the one name Tennessee can not have public until he has signed? Lane Kiffen

You simply cannot get turned down publically by Kiffin.
