So he has his vetted list, met with “leaders” for their input on said list, real search starts now
He said he wouldn't be discussing coaches names with them but asking what attributes they wanted in a coach then trying to find a coach that matches that. And he thinks that helps the new coach hit the ground running because the players will buy in faster because they had more input in getting a coach that fits their needs. I only say that because you said discussing the list. So you may have meant the same thing and I'm just arguing semantics. Sorry if that's the case.

It wouldn't surprise me if Stoops want to coach again, but I'm not sure it's college. Not having to recruit can be seen as a plus. All depends on what a coach wants. Maybe he enjoys being a mentor and coaching college players. Maybe he has no interest in recruiting and dealing with practice limits and player eligibility, and just wants to focus on football. (like Gruden for example)

If he ever did come back to college, I'd guess it would have to be an ideal situation for him with a lot of flexibility as far as hiring and his responsibilities. Maybe a short term obligation with a head coach in waiting in case he wants to retire again.

$50 million, 5 year contract. Make him the highest paid coach in CFB but also give both sides a relatively easy out given his age. Would be 65 when it ended and could walk into the sunset uber rich and with another notch on his legacy for resurrecting UT football and then handing the reins over to another Lincoln Riley.

I don’t care if he was calling the plays for Clemson, Bama, and OU at the same time. He isn’t coming here to be OC. Irrelevant
It would be his offense. How is it irrelevant? Kiffin is wanted because of his offense. Freeze is pointed at because of his offense. They both call plays. Come one Bass you can do better.

If Campbell wants to win a championship and be mentioned along with the greats, this is a place he could live that dream.

How many big programs have actually gone "all in" with a monster offer to try to convince him?

My guess is most big schools assumed he would beg to take their job and when they realized he was fine where he was they moved on.

See. There's the Hank take we all know and love.... Lol😏
Why is that a "Hank take"? Kiffin has never really accomplished anything as HC other than getting fired in the most embarrassing way ever.

I say that, but I do still believe he has the potential to be a very successful head coach..IF...he ever puts a decent defense on the field.

But they are head coaches running entire programs. Elliot is the OC for Clemson. We have no clue if he can run a program, hire a staff, or recruit to TN. Come on Check, be better

Plus he seems to like the challenge of building a program.

And by gawd UT football just happens to need a builder.
