If we hire an assistant or lower tier coach after all the previous talk from AV and others about big names, big money, etc, then I guess that means they are all full of BS or a ton of HC's said no... I have to think with the talk from our Admin about moving at warp speed and then DW was chilin at the game last night, he already has our HC. With his personality, strong initial statements, and being fresh on the job, he doesn't strike me as the type to hang at a Bball game when he was hired to find the next great HC for UT Football... I think it's done.

NOW, who he's got, I don't think anyone knows.... sure hope we are not disappointed after all this positive momentum and big statements from folks.

I did notice a couple posts from @HankHill that were excitement gifs without any words... I think he knows something... then he's pushing Fleck...

I think it's either Campbell or Fleck

Crazy though that if we wanted to say F it to everyone, I know we could get Kiffin or Freeze and they'd kill it here...

Elliott is highly thought of. Sure, he may be just a coordinator, but he's turned down several great job opportunities. He doesn't listen to just anyone. Would I prefer a proven HC? Absolutely. But the fact Elliott is willing to listen to White when he has refused so many others is impressive. People have been trying to pry him away from Dabo for the last few years, without success. As far as coordinators go, he's one of the most highly sought after ones out there. And to act like a coordinator can't succeed is silly. All coaches work their way up. Kirby had no HC experience when he took over UGA and he's doing okay. Mullen had never been a HC before taking over Miss State. Coordinators can and do succeed. Elliott isn't my first choice, but if we've worked our list and land on him, I'll give him a chance. He's a better choice than Sonny Dykes or Will Healy, IMO.

Kirby walked into a team full of 4 and 5 stars when the SEC East was at its lowest point in years. On the Mullen front, MS State doesn't have the tradition of ever being a power house. Not like they were going to go get a top 20 HC at the time. We are TN we have tradition and we've tried the coordinator route. I want someone who's RAN a program at some level.

Wouldn’t take a ton of coaches saying no. Only a few, really. How many current HC are even willing to listen? UT football is toxic and has been for over a decade. Now we’re staring at NCAA issues. Majority of sitting HC prob aren’t picking up the phone when they see the caller ID

Find me coordinators who their first job was a big power 5 job and had success. List is super short. Odds aren't in your favor. Kirby walked into a gold mine and has had success. If it takes more than 5 minutes to find that answer out, then there's your sign. Doesn't happen often.

I"m not really sure how successful Kirby is-- he has everything there, and not better than Mark Richt, IMO.
