No, I think there is a lot of truth to this. It's been a search run like the NSA up until last night, and now all of a sudden info is flowing like a river about how we got turned down by multiple people. I don't buy it.

If it's even true I think the reason Franklin even got a look is because he's proven he can win in the SEC. At Vandy. It makes sense for him to get a look. Highly doubt he's the guy though. I still think we got Campbell and just ironing out details of contract. I think the money we can offer his staff is going to go a long way with him. Especially since he cut into his own pay to help them out this past season. He cares about them and the fact that UT can double or triple their current salaries will probably make the difference.

That's not the point. The point was, as bad as a situation he inherited, we were upset with a 9-4 season in year 4. Most of us had begun to turn on him. That's not why he was fired, but we all knew the future looked bleak.

It's crazy when you HONESTLY think about it.
We talk about a "pattern" but the only real pattern is not landing the proven absolute winner and that covers 90+% of programs.

We've tried endless other things that's worked for all sorts of others.

The young electrifying NFL coach
The safe offensive minded coordinator
The smaller program winning recruiter
The defense minded, knows fb and the south winning program guy

Not only did things "not work out" like they did for other programs, we straight up hit scum sucking bottom each time.
I mean, come on, give TN fans a freaking much deserved break for a change.

I've been on the Choo Choo Chadwell train since Day 1. I'd much prefer we give this guy a shot over Elliot or Dykes. Chadwell has revived not one, but TWO different programs. He has HC experience. He has an innovative offensive mind. And he has a great personality and is from East Tennessee. He would fight like hell for this program. It's the no brainer choice if you missed on all your big fish.

Same. CSU hasn't done anything since he left. And while it's true that Moglia had CCU rolling before he got there, they were FCS then. And Chadwell beat Moglia and CCU twice in a row when he was at CSU.

I think he's worth taking a risk on.

Coaching wise he is a top 15-20 coach. That’s what Tennessee is looking for.

I can confirm Kress' tweet that Chadwell was contacted last night - I just don't know if it was by the search firm or by UT.

If this is true, it seems to indicate we have re-set the search a little bit. Or we weren't totally sold on whoever was in the second tier.

If you can confirm it, then why are you uncertain it's true?

Honestly . . . During BJ's tenure . . . when Candy was owning us, I thought and hoped we'd hire Franklin. It would have been a good hire and a middle finger to them at the same time. I was a young man when I became a Vols fan. I was at UT in grad school when we began the decline in 2002 (though we didn't know it at the time). I'm old now with 2 kids, a yankee wife that hates me, and a deaf & blind dog. We don't have the luxury of pride anymore. Bring on Franklin, Kiffin, Freeze...hell, bring in the Tiger King if it means more wins. I've been on VN through 3 coaching searches too many. I have scratched my head at the administration's moves for more than a decade. I need this...That is all.

I don’t understand all the talk of Elliott and Dykes. Chadwell should be the floor. At least he has head coaching experience, which in my mind makes him a slightly less risky hire.

It just seems like someone in that camp put a bunch of names out to see how people would react. I’m thinking they have a group that they’ll call back, a fall back group and a if everyone else says no group.

Speak for yourself. Most people were happy after the 9-4 season and were hopeful he'd continue to improve.
