Honestly gut feeling is they're either gonna swing big for Campbell or Cristobal and if they can't get it done, Jamey gets the job. It's not a terrible fallback plan. Just wish Kiffin would be above Chadwell in the pecking order though
So Franklin is out for sure now

Are you saying some think Fulmer was treated poorly? As someone that loves coach fulmer and was excited to see him get his shot at AD thinks that's ridiculous. His hire was a total catastrophe that will have long lasting negative implications for Vol football.

Fulmer likely new more about the violations than DP & RB let on in the press conference. In fact, I doubt very seriously he would have done anything about it regardless of what he knew or didn't know. If I'm right, they helped him "save face", rather than just publicly embarrass him for embarrassing the University. So from my view, they treated him with grace and any booster that doesn't like the way he was treated, doesn't know the full story of how negligent and/or complicit Fulmer was.

Money alone isn't going to buy our way out of this...
Right now, UT has incompatible goals. Moving forward means reconciling that.

Granted, but I get the feeling for the first time in a while that there are competent adults at least trying to reconcile this and move forward. And they appear to have hired another universally-respected
Competent adult (DW) to assist in this process.

This gives me more hope than I’ve had in a while that we might actually make it out of this mess.

I'm sitting here begging for Chadwell right now. I'm choosing to believe Kress that Chadwell has been contacted. If whoever our next big whale is turns it down, give that man the job. He wants to be here. He'll commit to being here for a long time. He could be special. At least there is hope there.

Chadwell wouldn't be a home run by any means, but it would be a good, solid hire imo. Would get plenty of positive press and it would be someone who without a doubt is here for UT and not just to collect a pay check.

AP really is a loser. The fans aren’t and have never been the problem. If we just hired someone worth a damn we’d give them all the time they need.

We need to accept the reality that when many people are telling you there is a problem, there *might* be a problem. Getting angry at that possibility doesn't make anything better than shouting that message down (oh the irony).

Imagine it like this: youre severely overweight, with pre diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. That cheeseburger in your hand is not THE problem, but it certainly isn't making anything better.

The fans don't have to be THE problem, for the fans to be A problem.

Really all that matters in these types of situations is are the fans **perceived** to be a problem. We've been told by plenty of people over the years, in many different ways, that the answer to that might be a resounding yes (I've personally been shocked by hearing first hand how some people in the industry view the UT fanbase). So maybe, just maybe, instead of doubling down on the "nuh uh, I've bought a billion dollars of t-shirts over the years, and I've gone to Neyland during the worst teams ever fielded, it can't hurt anything if I tweet recruits/coaches/media people something hateful" we just decide not to do that for awhile. It's also irrelevant (to continue torturing the metaphor) how many cheeseburgers your neighbor is eating, when his diet won't affect your health at all (ie the idea that "other fanbases do too" is a meaningless issue given our cascading issues over the last 15 years).

Ultimately is it so hard to believe that mamma was probably right when she said "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?". Maybe let's try that for awhile?

Or, let's continue being/doing the same thing and hoping for different results. Maybe you're right and what fans do, say, or otherwise, just doesn't matter.

It's crazy when you HONESTLY think about it.
We talk about a "pattern" but the only real pattern is not landing the proven absolute winner and that covers 90+% of programs.

We've tried endless other things that's worked for all sorts of others.

The young electrifying NFL coach ✅
The safe offensive minded coordinator ✅
The smaller program winning recruiter ✅
The defense minded, knows fb and the south winning program guy ✅

Not only did things "not work out" like they did for other programs, we straight up hit scum sucking bottom each time.
I mean, come on, give TN fans a freaking much deserved break for a change.
yep, and one thing left off the list, in terms of patterns go, is the lack of good leadership, and the inconsistency at leadership. it at least looks like that part may be fixed, or at least on the mend. if that part is fixed, and we exercise a little patience, maybe, we finally get a little closer to 'right' at HC.....

Not opposed to Chadwell if it comes to that, but still amounts to catching a guppy on a whale hunt.
