I think the fan base would really rally around him.

Keep Steele and build from there.

Surround him with a great staff, he has a high ceiling imo. It may just take 5-6 years to really get rolling. Fans would have to be very patient with him, but he's very likable so I think it would be easier to be patient with him.

AP really is a loser. The fans aren’t and have never been the problem. If we just hired someone worth a damn we’d give them all the time they need.
I think he's just falling into the same trap that is common to a lot of journalists - he doesn't like his customers. That is an extremely dangerous position and one that his boss should be careful to discourage. I'm not saying you have to write untruths in order to assuage the readers, but you can't be contemptuous of them. That's a good way to send them - and their $9.95 - elsewhere.

Exactly.

I've been on the Choo Choo Chadwell train since Day 1. I'd much prefer we give this guy a shot over Elliot or Dykes. Chadwell has revived not one, but TWO different programs. He has HC experience. He has an innovative offensive mind. And he has a great personality and is from East Tennessee. He would fight like hell for this program. It's the no brainer choice if you missed on all your big fish.

Agree. If it's not Campbell, then I think Chadwell makes the most sense. We'd all like to see Freeze, but there's likely some things in his closet o' skeletons that's making him a tough sell to major schools.

I wouldn't be mad at a Franklin hire, but it doesn't make sense for him to leave PSU for another round of SEC insanity.

Elliot is intriguing, but I don't see how DW sells back-to-back coordinator hires after Pruitt crapped the bed (although I think Elliot is light years ahead of Pruitt). I'm still iffy on what type of offense Chadwell will run, and whether he has SEC recruiting chops, so his staff hires are critical.

Although it shouldn't be the deciding factor, I also like the fact that Chadwell is allegedly excited for this job--it's been too long to not have a HC that WANTS to be in Knoxville.

It seems like virtually every game the played against a high quality team or coach they came out on the losing in. What are Herman’s best 3 wins at texas in 4 years?

Oklahoma (regular season), WVU, and UGA bowl game?

Herman's problem is that he didn't blow out bad teams. If he had dominated the rest of his schedule, boosters might have been more patient - but no one wants to be in a fourth quarter dogfight with Kansas or Texas Tech every year.
