Troy Calhoun or Jeff Monken. Both have been incredibly successful, are proven program builders, and do it the right way. Calhoun comes with the bonus of having been an OC in the NFL so he isn't married to the triple option -- only runs it out of necessity due to personnel limitations. Monken comes with the bonus of having recruited the south while he was the HC at Georgia Southern.

I'd take either one over Sonny Dykes or an unproven coordinator. We need someone with a track record as a program builder.

I think people are going to be pretty stunned by the contract if we hire Chadwell or Elliott or anyone on that level.

We're going to have to pay more than they're worth and make the contract really favorable.

Still AP on Swain said Dykes was making 3.5 at SMU and would require 5 from us lol much rather “overpay” at 3 or 4 for Chadwell or Elliott.

It's tougher to be the best coordinator in the country than it is to win games at a nobody school.

It’s easier to win games when you have better talent than anyone else by far.
It’s harder to win double digit wins anywhere.

Honestly, given our skill players on offense and Hooker/Salter at QB, I'd rather just have Elliott and let him keep Steele as DC or bring in a boss DC of his own.

Fair or not fair, Kiffin was never and will never be considered. Too many bruised egos and hurt feelings around here, it won't happen.

We’re going to have to overpay no matter who we hire. The question is do you feel Better about paying say 5 mil for a guy that should cost 3... or 9 million for a guy that should cost 7. I really don’t care what the money or contract looks like at this point. Just ready to see what direction we’re going.

Yes, some don't like the way it was all orchestrated. Hiring Pruitt was a terrible choice, exacerbated by other bad choices. You can make a problem go away or you can make it worse.

I would feel like a lot of people with the bruised egos and hurt feelings aren't exactly making the big calls on this hire though.

I also don't think Kiffin really cares about coming back here. He's not pining for this job. He was here for ~13 months over a decade ago. Since then he has mostly trolled us. He doesn't feel the same way about UT that Bruce Pearl does, who legitimately did want to come back.

If what AV said is true about DW, it does leave the possibility open for a Freeze. That would be insanity as most gave up on that weeks ago lol

If all the big names turn him down, freeze is the best coach available. I trust AV but his faith is misplaced if he thinks DW will hire the best coach available. They won't touch freeze or kiffin. It's depressing. We would just end up with chadwell.

I don’t know if this is someone playing the results, but I heard last night we moved away from Fleck, not the other way around.

Money alone isn't going to buy our way out of this. UT is a hornet's nest, admin just whacked it with a big stick, the NCAA will take another swing and some coaches don't want to get caught up in the swarm. Trying to buy guys who really don't want to be at UT likely leads to more instability.

Right now, UT has incompatible goals. Moving forward means reconciling that.

Like I said before... maybe hire Steele dirt cheap save the money keep him for 3 years then when the NCAA bullsh** is over we will be ready for the big fish.
