I've been going back and forth between pouting and then finding reasons to be optimistic. Reading the quotes from Plowman again made me realize this is a long term move. This hire was never about a quick fix or making a splash. That would have been nice but it was always unlikely. We have to take our medicine on this one and get back to being competitive every week.

High Pull has won a lot more than he's lost. Which is what you want. He's already got a huge leg up over Pruitt with prior HC experience and a motivated AD in his corner who is used to winning in this decade. White did say he wanted somebody he could trust. He may like the idea of having an ally in the building and he knew he had a good coach in his pocket that wouldn't tank.

At the very minimum this guy will be competent. Who knows what his ceiling is but I think we would at least have more to cheer about during games. An explosive offense gives us a chance every week. I have no doubt we could surround him with a good staff. We'll see about recruiting.

I think the hope is you play better than expected and make a bowl. Re-evaluate as we go. But who knows. Maybe we would like having an explosive offense and he's a guy we will all love a year from now. Or maybe we just hire Mike Tomlin tomorrow.

Honestly after I’ve though about it, and looked at his 18-20 seasons, I’m pretty much on board with Heupel as HC.

We just need to pony up the $ for a good defensive staff and recruits. He can develop QBs dictate how the offense is ran.

Yeah he was handed the keys a humming program and has it trending downward. That sounds like just what we need right now. A great program builder.

Are you aware his QB went down in 2019?
2020 he had 10 opt outs in the spring due to covid, more in the fall, and even more before bowl game.
Lost to a couple of teams by maybe a combined score of 14 points...

ok that’s a relief, his close losses will count as Wins on UT’s record. Good thing no other teams deal with injuries and opt outs.

2018- 12-1
-Gave LSU all they wanted in NY6 game. Lost 40-32 back when LSU had a sick defense.
-Also lost star QB, Milton McKenzie, last regular season game. Still won conference championship over a really good Memphis team.
-Destroyed Pitt by 5 TDs.
-I don't care what level or talent you have if you go 12-1 against really good conference competition you can coach. That doesn't just happen.

2019- had to play a freshman with no McKenzie and he ate.... went 10-3.
-Beat Stanford by 3 TDs
-Lost to Pitt by 1 @ Pitt who had a stacked NFL player loaded defense and still dropped 34 points losing by 1.
-Lost to a really good Cincy team @ Cincy by a FG
-Lost @ Tulsa by a FG.
-Destroyed Marshall in bowl game by 4 TDs.

Again a freshman QB and averaged 43.3 PPG.

2020- 6-4

-Posters ITT telling me they had around 10 players opt out
-Destroyed Georgia Tech 49-21
-Lost to a really good Tulsa team by a TD. Tulsa lost to Ok State by 9, Miss State by 2 and Cincy by 3.
-Lost to Memphis by 1 point
-Lost to Cincy by 3 who turned out to be a Top 10 team in the country. Scored 33 on that Luke Fickell defense.
-Lost bowl game to a buzzsaw BYU team with a QB who is about to go Top 5.

Averaged 41 PPG.

Get behind this program...everyone. Stop bickering. Stop second guessing.
We have a bad ass AD...I mean one of the most impressive guys I have EVER been around. He is getting this right I promise you that.

And another thing...this stuff about whales and authority to offer this and that to two whales is BS. DW has been given a damn centurion card to hire whoever he wishes at whatever cost he sees fit....i have said it 100 times but some folks just can’t understand. Money is not and will not be an issue moving forward with this program.

Thank You! Wish some of these damn fans will get that through their damn head. It's embarrassing and ridiculous!
