I don’t disagree. I’m not saying Lebby or Briles not coming means we won’t have a good offense. I’m just saying we’re on Plan B on offense already, and who knows where we’re at on the defensive side. I guess Plan B as well if you assume Steele was option #1.

JH has always called plays wherever he has been since his days as OC at OU so that immediately took the other two off the table. He and White had a nothing is decided approach and stuck to that line in the presser.

Steele was Fulmer’s plan A so again, jumping down the negative rabbit hole is a bit premature.

When Callaway went to the Saints they said he didn't seem to have the normal college development but they kept him and it seems to have worked out. I've heard that people at the Senior bowl have said that Palmer is still pretty raw, meaning lack of development. I've been complaining about our wide receivers since 2017. Hopefully we get a good wide receiver coach with this new staff. Given the nature of this offense I suspect we will and that is going to make a tremendous difference. jmo.

Just messin. Dropped in the middle of whatever fight was going on. Carry on.
Oh I know. I just gave an opinion. A couple of posters apparently with a lot of likes didn't like my opinion and came back at me. I sure hope the AD is the white knight we all hope him to be. I was only expressing my initial impression based on his words and actions. Nothing more.

Still a safer bet to go with a majority staff with an already established rep.

Look, I’m totally on board with JH bringing his OL and WR coaches. Those would be good hires. It really isn’t even a terrible idea to bring the OC since he won’t be calling plays anyway. But the TE and RB spots should be filled with proven coaches in the Power 5, preferably with SEC experience.
I think I will trust him over you. If he thinks he needs somebody different then he will try and get somebody different.

I listened to part of yesterday's Basillio podcast. Not always easy to listen to, IMO, but he is arguing that the school is letting everyone go, retaining no coaches on previous staff in order to show good faith to NCAA. This would not include Steele who he is thinks is in negotiations/consideration for DC job.

Saw on the twitter machine this morning that HT and Q Crouch are both enrolled at UT for spring, so they may not leave... TBD

It stands to reason that if Vols social media is affecting the results of Vols athletics (recruiting, hiring, etc), he may consider engaging them to be part of his job. It would be interesting to see that if doing so could help shape it into a more positive force.
He's always been fairly active in social media and helped turn UCF's social media presence into a huge benefit to the program.

Eh, I would say being the head coach of an undefeated regular season team is the biggest notch on his resume.

That Missouri team put up stats but mostly against bad teams.
For me it’s the immediate impact upon arrival and how fast they lost it when he left. Locke regressed big time the following year.

More of a red mark for the offense in general than the guy teaching him to be a receiver.
I went to 4 games this season. Granted that isn't a huge sample size.

But if Palmer or any receiver for that matter was consistently beating man coverage to get wide open, I must have missed it.

I’d agree. With the offense we’d be running, I would guess the priorities for defense would be:

1. Stopping the run
2. Red zone Defense - forcing field goals
3. Forcing turnovers
Red zone defense and turnovers are all that should matter. Who the hell cares if you gave up 500 yards but you only gave up 24 points

You definitely missed it. Especially with Palmer. The problem is every play chaney called was 12 yards +

I don’t think Henry is coming back but JH being family oriented one would think he’d like plying for him.

Yeah, the good news is there are a few layups recruiting wise this year. Hayden and Simpson want to be here - so if he doesn’t get them, it’ll signal huge trouble.

I’m just not very optimistic right now, but we’ll see. Getting Arnett as DC would be good. Going any lower than him seems problematic.
Come on dude..with all this AA **** hanging over our head nobody is a "layup".

Recruiting is going to suck balls for a few years no matter who is hired...especially with this "Beacon of integrity" bull💩. If high ranked kids can get benefits literally everywhere else, why the hell would they come here?

Self imposed penalties will be reduction of 8 scholarships, 1year bowl ban and maybe reduction in off campus recruiting or official visits.

My reasoning for this is that if it’s more then this then it adds a year to JH contract. Thought they tipped the hand with his contact
