You are entitled to your opinion as am I. I know many accomplished UT grads that are going to start following a different program. Why am I still posting? Probably because I haven’t made it to acceptance yet in the stages of grief.
Go the **** on then and quit yappin about it like a chihuahua you freakin loser quitter...nobody is going to miss you and your pathetic quitter ilk.

I am a Vol till I die...little boybandwagon pukes like you make me physically ill..🤮

South Carolina fans are largely displeased with the outcome of their staff change. Oh they’re pleased that Muschamp is gone, just not widely pleased with his replacement and the developing staff around him. There are three basic trains of thought among SC fans, 1) I’d kill for us to have hired Heupel, 2) Heupel is overrated, UCF regressed every year he was there, and 3) who cares about UT?

This seems to be the most widespread sentiment:

This could be a deadly combo for the SEC East. I know many here like Josh and think he's a great coach. They could be scoring a lot of TD's in Knoxville in the coming years.
Josh Heupel was my 1st choice to replace Muschump. Happy now with Shane, but Heupel will be much better than Pruitt.

Most objective viewers would say their hire is better than ours. Hopefully, they're wrong.

I think from all account right now....unless you're a USC sunshine pumper, 90% of the rest of the college football fan /coach and interested party world would say UT is in better shape. Primarily because Heupel has a resume.

With that said...I think most of the outcome will come down to the staffs. I would anticipate UT's staff will be twice as appealing as ours currently is. I hope I'm wrong....because UT bothers the p!ss out of me. Heupel isn't necessarily a HR hire.....but he ain't bad. At least he is tied to a proven offensive system, believes in it, will recruit for it and will ride it. I think we will be very upset when we play UT in 2-3 years from now and they are putting up 35 plus points every time we see them....I do know that.

I place his odds of acceptable success, by their standards, at 62%. (edit: I like how they perceive us to have higher standards than they have.)

I would think 50/50 at best.

I hope your projection is more correct than mine. There is no plausible route by which we rise to near the top in the East if they are successful.

They're like us. They wound up less than stellar. I just hope it works out better for us. Two years of sanctions for them would give us a leg up. We can't rise without Tennessee falling. It's historically proven.

It will be more than two years. They won't have a resolution to this case until later in the year at the earliest - so this season is a wash. Then, even if they just get the same sanctions as Ole Miss - they'll have two years of post season ban and several years of recruiting restrictions and scholarship reductions that extend beyond the post season bans.

I agree though - Beamer needs to make some moves with the program while UT is down (starting with keeping them out of places like Dutch Fork where they got two great players in the last four years).

We will see where this goes. A lot of pressure at UT. No matter NCAA issues and the last 15 years, the fan base still view UT as elite and expect those type of results. But a decent hire for the position they are in. If he would have been hired in Columbia it would have been praised as the coaching coup of the century.

I'm no apologist for the American conference...I think a lot of overinflated /overhyped coaches get their chance TOO soon at big time jobs from doing well at some of these programs. With that said...UT is in a tough position with the recent bad history and sanctions. They're in changeover mode with new AD also. They will score points in the SEC......during an era where offense is openly being given huge advantages. Doesn't take a genius to know that they're at least positioning themselves for success....whether it comes or not.

Not a choice. I really want to believe we'll be good again. I don't want to feel crappy every time I think of UT football. But right now, it makes me sad. UT is in my blood. It's never been a choice.

Exactly. You might say I was born into Tennessee fandom.
Turning against my Vols would be a violation against my own soul.
I'm a fan 'till my last breath - irrespective of who the coaches and players are.

The thing most people are ignoring is it doesn’t matter how good the head coach is as a recruiter now. The NCAA stuff and eyes watching every move means recruiting isn’t going to be elite and that doesn’t means JH can’t recruit either

Give me a 3 year range when we have had “elite recruiting”. It virtually never happens here. We will be somewhere around 15 in year 1 and if we have a good/fun year we will be around 10 the next. Time is a flat circle.

There’s no way you can be a fan of anyone besides bama and not at least feel a little “uneasy” about JH being here.

- we haven’t had a QB in 4 years.... ✅ fixed that.
- we’ve had the worst scheme and OC in the SEC. ✅ fixed that.
- previous coaching staff played favorites and refused to play younger guys ✅ fixed that.
- we’ve had a toxic culture at least the last year +. ✅ fixed that.

As an opposing coach I’m looking at Tennessee with some serious caution right now. Why?

- we have two 5 ⭐️ QBs And a quality ACC QB waiting for JH in our QB room.
- we have quietly been putting WRs in the nfl for a couple years now... so it’s fair to say our WR room is going to be solid.
- we had a great pass blocking OL last year and return a bulk of that and will be switching to more a pass pro friendly OL blocking scheme / quick passing scheme so whatever edge rushers said opposing coach may feel good about... that are pretty much nullified before the ball is ever rolled out.
- mainly, this team is hungry and dying to buy into a coach and culture and teams that are bought in get confidence and better in a hurry.

I’m fully expecting us to go 6-6 or 7-5 but i GUARANTEE that we make at least one “big boy” (im calling Florida especially with our starting schedule and them playing bama before us) very uncomfortable when we play them. I promise you Mullen is looking very closely at our team especially with the offensive talent they are losing and their defense was already very suspect.

Elon Musk just left California for Texas. They were bleeding him dry with their tax base. Their loss is our gain.
Tesla doesn’t make money from manufacturing and selling cars and never has. what they do is resell the regulatory credits they get to car companies that don’t make enough vehicles that hit emissions standards. It’s the only thing that has kept them barely making a profit but as other manufacturers are now making vehicles with less emissions that side of their business is about to squeezed and they may be looking at them going back to the days of zero profits. A Texas move makes sense from that standpoint for many reasons including cheaper labor and bigger tax breaks not income tax as much as relocation breaks and an overall cheaper workforce but Elon also has a pretender syndrome and is dying to be seen as Tony Stark.

A lot of his startup cash was gifted him by Cali investors and taxpayers but as other manufacturers need his services less it makes sense to try and make the car part of the business a success rather than an excuse to gather and sell credits.

An interesting article on how it worked: Tesla's dirty little secret: Its net profit doesn't come from selling cars - CNN

With the credit selling market drying up, it’s going to be interesting to see if they can survive. I love their design but that’s the main thing going for them.

Just caught this morning's Locked on Vols. Josh Ward stepping away for family time. Eric Cane from WNML taking over.

Hope all is okay with Josh Ward. I listen to the LOV podcasts but my only complaint is - outside of getting good guests - Ward doesn’t ever really give any insight or opinions or really heavily discuss anything.

Just a very general review of things that have happened. So it’s probably ideal for the casual fan who doesn’t live and breath the Vols on forums and twitter and knows all the rumors etc.

But I’ll keep listening because it’s a decent show and I need my fix. Prefer VQ, the Ultimate Tennessee Podcast, Rocky Top Insider and Late Kick when he’s talking Vols though.

California is full of majestic, magnificent and awe inspiring natural beauty. I would love to live there for that, but the government there is ridiculous and a huge turnoff. Love the place, not the government.
My least favorite tax return to do. State has the highest tax rates and one of the largest fees to do business in their state. So even if you have basically no activity in the state, they will still charge you an $800 fee because you filed in their state.

Mullen is concerned about Huepel hire?

My brain hurts.

If they are being honest, I would be accepting that going to a bowl game would be a victory for a while. Their staff is terrible. Which is why it gives me hope that we can win 8-10 a year with Heupel. SC will be down, Vandy is Vandy, 3-4 OCC, Kentucky is well coached but still not as talented and we don’t have JG, and Mizzou is still not close in talent and got smoked by any team worth a dang. I’ll take some 8-9 win seasons for a while.
