To be honest, I just don't give a **** about names anymore.

We've had some big name coordinators in the last few years of absolute ****** on-field performances.

2009: Chaney (29.3ppg) & Kiffin (22.2ppg)
2010: Chaney (27.0ppg) & Wilcox (25.1ppg)
2011: Chaney (20.3ppg) & Wilcox (22.6ppg)
2012: Chaney (36.2ppg) & Sunseri (35.7ppg)
2013: Bajakian (23.8ppg) & Jancek (29.0ppg)
2014: Bajakian (28.9ppg) & Jancek (24.2ppg)
2015: DeBord (35.2ppg) & Jancek (20.0ppg)
2016: DeBord (36.4ppg) & Shoop (28.8ppg)
2017: Scott (19.8ppg) & Shoop (29.1ppg)
2018: Helton (22.8ppg) & Sherrer (27.9ppg)
2019: Chaney (24.2ppg) & Ansley (21.7ppg)
2020: Chaney (21.5ppg) & Ansley (30.1ppg)

I type all that out to say I don't give a flying F*** who it is if the numbers are right, people hated DeBord and he's the best OC we've had in over a decade. Jancek is also the best DC we've had too.
Hard to believe it was only about 5 years ago we had Dobbs, Kamara, etc. on this team....

I was looking at the AAC and the history of UCF football. UCF left CUSA and joined the AAC beginning with the 2013 season. George O’Leary was still their coach and had been since 2004. They had a good deal of success with O’Leary, that is until 2015, the year his program cratered and he resigned.

When conference realignment was going on the makeup of the Big East/AAC was in a constant state of flux as it struggled for survival. Teams were coming and going like nobody’s business. The conference had 8 teams in 2012, the year before UCF crossed over from CUSA. Those 8 teams were Louisville, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Temple, Connecticut, and South Florida.

In 2013, Pittsburgh and Syracuse left for the ACC. UCF, Houston, SMU and Memphis joined the remaining members of the original 8 to form a 10 member conference.

In 2014, Louisville left for the ACC, Rutgers left for the B1G and the AAC added East Carolina, Tulane, and Tulsa and was now an 11 member conference.

In 2015 the AAC added Navy to increase the number of member schools to 12.

At the end of 2019, Connecticut chose to go independent and thus withdrew from the AAC, dropping the number of members schools to 11 for the 2020 athletic calendar.

I’ve explained all that because I wanted to show how UCF has fared during its tenure in the AAC in the broad statistical categories we generally see relating to the performance of college football teams beyond the won-loss record. Given the changing number of member schools I am showing where UCF ranked in the conference relative to the number of members that year.

I know there has been concern about the defensive side of the ball with JH at the helm but I think if all we had to look at was the performance of the UCF defense in 2018 and 2019 those concerns might not be as heavy on so many minds.

There are all sorts of variables that impact a unit’s performance including the opponents but in this case I think the major culprit, since all else seems mostly the same, was that the unit lost starters on the defensive line and in the secondary opting out for Covid concerns right before the season started. Apparently, there was no one of their caliber ready to replace them in the rotation. It’s sort of like us losing players to injuries in 2016 and not having the talented depth to make up for losing Cam Sutton and Jaylen Reeves-Maybin. jmo.

They also lost a number of backups for the defense, particularly in the secondary, due to opt outs. So the 2020 UCF defense was in a state of depletion. I don’t think you can totally judge a JH defense based on 2020 alone – unless we’re expecting similar circumstances. I do think 2018 and 2019 should at least be considered as possibly somewhat more the norm for JH. jmo.

One of only 3 states now that passed through legislation instead of the people voting for it. That means the politicians are finally taking notice that it is inevitable.
I was talking about the state itself not the passing of the law

I think UT could do worse than Conklin. His tie to Heupel might be through Heupel's dad as Conklin played and broke into coaching in South Dakota.

As others have said, please give me a young up and coming DC over a retread.

If Conklin does well at an SEC school, he would seem to be in line for a D-1 job sooner rather than later if his record at Wofford is any indication.

Give me a DC like House or Rodgers that has NFL experience to sell to recruits.

What's your drug of choice?

No accumulation of snow here in mid TN but some of the pics people are sending in from areas east to our local tv station are pretty.

My mil lives in Bristol and the wife sent her mom a text but she hasn't responded yet. Curious to know how much snow they have in the tri-cities area
