Like Urban or not, the convenient thing to do would be to hire someone else and avoid the criticism. I can respect someone who does what they think is right instead of what is convenient. Especially these days.

That move doesn't surprise me at all. He defended the wife beater at OSU----and that was not unfounded.

DW needs to mind his own business, and let the HC hire his own DC, just like Donde minded her business, and let the AD hire his HC.

Only at UT can they hire a new AD, who brings the football coach at his former school of employment, and then doesn't allow the coach to select his staff.

This is my ULTIMATE fear of why White chose Heupel for our job - because he knows he can "push him around," for lack of a better term.

Ok, I have defended DW and will certainly let this play out. But, I got issues if this is true. A true leader gives the people below them the power and authority to make their own decisions. I have no problem with input, but he shouldn't be directly making the hire.

I’d say let JH hire who he wants but it’s clear what DW is looking for in a coach, not that it’s a bad thing just would rather have the HC making the hire.

Travaris Robinson is the first candidate I've seen that makes total sense for both sides.

Not saying I think he is the best candidate - far from it. But what we need, and what he wants, seems to line up.

I don’t see how anyone could want him as DC coming off his tenure at USCe

It's one thing to let a coach finish a season with a bowl game.
It's a whole nother thing to let you new DC to miss the entire spring because he coaching a "season" in the spring due to the China virus.
If he's the guy, then it's time to get to work at UT.

Shouldn't the head coach be allowed to pick his D-coordinator. Sounds like White is playing political games with this hire.
