Hiring someone because of their skin color, black or white, is racist. It's wrong either way. I want to hire the best coach, regardless of skin color.

Truth. If we truly want a world with no racism, then everyone has to stop focusing on color for everything. It's really that simple.

Bottom line: DW is heavily involved in the hiring process to a point that can be viewed as hurtful to the process. The Randy Shannon hiring was his doing at UCF, and it failed.

We'll see how it goes from here on out: it's obvious something stinks behind the scenes or we would have already been able to hire someone.

13 years does not equal "almost two decades. Most of that has been co-DC. 5 of those years were with Butch Jones, first at Central Michigan, then at Cincinnati. Probably means nothing, but given our experience with Butch, a big turn off to me.

I think we can do better.

Okay. Still more DC experience than Brown, Washington or Rodgers. Thus in my top 2 beside Conklin.

I think so too, but I hope he still has some of that old juice left...Richt hiring him away was the beginning of the mess we are in today.

Illinois has no chance to compete vs OSU, MSU, Michigan, PSU and no football tradition. UT has the tradition. He knows how to coach and would put UT in the Top 7 classes every year.

He averaged less than 4 wins a season there, I don't think he can cut it at the college level. Since he just went to Houston to be their DC I think he feels the same way.
