Banks was in my personal top 3 with Conklin when names were leaking, so I'm pretty happy.

I bet the rest of the staff is announced quickly, good chance he had already agreed to Garner and that's why we saw it announced. Maybe Banks announcement was delayed slightly as he (Banks) reached out to possible assistants since he wasn't pursued as heavily early in the search.

Ranking DC guys that we had extensive talks with or offered in order:

1. House
2. Banks
3. Rodgers
4. Conklin
5. Washington
6. Blake Baker (Don’t know where in the world this one came from)

I would have loved House as a hire due to his track history with development of LBs, NFL experience and being a former DC in the SEC. But Banks I believe is a solid #2.

Penn State was 24th in passing yards allowed in 2020 with 198.6 yards and 42nd in completion percentage given up at 59%. If that's "not very good" I'll freaking take it in a heartbeat! We finished 104th in yards and 125th in completion percentage for comparison.

I’ve learned that if there is one positions that fans rarely like their position coach it’s DBs lol. Give up any play and you suck.

For me Conklin was 1 and House 3, with Rodgers moving to 4. Otherwise same list.

The gripe I think is the lack of INTs. But part of that I'm sure has to do with the Big 10 being still very run heavy offensively. Ultimately though if your secondary can keep completions and yards low that's good enough for me. I think we'll generate a lot more INTs than Penn State just cause so many SEC teams throw a lot, and we'll hopefully have leads forcing them to be one dimensional.
