Thank goodness it's over. Like the hire, hope it works out. We'll see if he gets play calling help.

Thought this was an interesting stat. Unsure if Penn St runs an up tempo offense, or just went 3 and out a lot.

Opponent Average Time of Possession Rank
2016 - 103
2017 - 60
2018 - 111
2019 - 110
2020 - 13

The gripe I think is the lack of INTs. But part of that I'm sure has to do with the Big 10 being still very run heavy offensively. Ultimately though if your secondary can keep completions and yards low that's good enough for me. I think we'll generate a lot more INTs than Penn State just cause so many SEC teams throw a lot, and we'll hopefully have leads forcing them to be one dimensional.

Judging by that his safties are drafted by nfl consistently they must think he is good at something

Tim Banks, I meant to put him on my list !!!! Does making a clerical error count against my
E-CRED?!?! I have been so hopeful for "INSIDER" status tell me one little omission isn't going to dash all my lofty dreams !!!! TELL ME IT AIN'T SO !!!!
Better luck next time...who ya got for LB coach?

Yeah, that to me is the biggest point. He's sent 4 safeties to the NFL since 2016, we've sent 0. Our last Safety drafted was 2010 in Eric Berry.

This isn't the NBA, if the NFL drafts your players it's because on tape they are showing technique and ability.

He led coaching clinics in Memphis, and continues to know several coaches there. He’s very close with coaches at Houston, Melrose, Whitehaven and Treadwell. It’s not an active recruiting spot for PSU.

That would be two strong recruiters in Memphis and specifically Whitehaven, which is where Mack went. They haven’t produced a whole lot of skill players but a lot of defensive talent.

I also believe Henry T. stays if we hired House, Rodgers or Washington. I don’t know how to feel about him staying with Banks as the hire. He should be the #1 recruit of this new defensive staff by a long shot.

His dad made it pretty clear he would only come back if transfer thing doesn’t pass. It likely didn’t matter who we hired

Since I have apparently lost all E-CRED and "INSIDER" status I will now resume my place in VolNation as the strange person that sets in the corner, play's with Crayons and coloring books . It is a long fall from the top but I shall soldier on...........more Skittles please.... a trying day for sure.

I think Butch put the hate on himself when he went to Alabama and made it a point to make us pay his whole buyout while he went and fetched Saban coffee for 3 years. Had he not had such a big ego and gone and gotten another job somewhere, I don't think there would be as much hate towards him.

Banks was Franklin’s proposed DC for his staff when he was contemplating coming here. DW interviewed him then. I guess there is some justice in getting a key staff member from Franklin. Banks is a great back end coach, and very good at adapting his formations to opponents. He will be a good fit with Garner. He is also close to many inner city coaches in Memphis and Detroit. He’ll bring players here in 22. Great at identifying and developing back end talent.
Wonder why his current dc wasn't his proposed choice? Tennessee recruiting ties?

OH NO!!!! Now we have to hire a Co-DC too?????
