One thing you missed is develop the talent, that's been the problem here for years. S&C staff may be the most important hire at any college. The great teams are studs in S&C. Mediocre and bad teams are not.
Artis is getting a fair shake at it first.

Obviously development is very important..... as much as JH has been hanging out with the strength team.... I’m hoping that shows he understands how important that is..... Tennessee getting ran over by nebraska was the single biggest reason for our title in 98.... it caused Phil to change how he approached strength and conditioning.

Key was before JH. Nobody has entered portal since he was hired that I recall.

I wouldn’t worry about these in state early decisions. Kids are being advised to grab a spot early and they can change mind later. It’s scary with no visits allowed, no camps, unknown. So kids have to grab best spot available then worry about the real decision later. I’m pretty sure there were a more than normal amount of decommits all over country this past yr so obviously kids change their mind.

Really my only concern is the narrow minded Nashville group that has a poster making it pretty clear he plans to steer his guys elsewhere and not willing to even listen to new staff. Hopefully it’s only his opinion and not Bucks. Guy is basing negative view of JH on a covid season with 10 opt outs which is massive for group of five yet makes excuses for pruitts covid 3 win season. He hasn’t even looked to see it’s all one possession losses and one play here or there and JH could have only 1 loss which is his only double digit loss of his career
What’s his reasoning for steering kids away from this coaching staff?

He is mad about the handling of Pruitt and thinks JH sucks because he Wikipedia’s a record without looking at what happened in the losses. Maybe he won’t steer them but his comments suggest he plans to strongly suggest kids don’t come here

Not a true fan IMO.

Doh...Ricky Morton.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that the Nashville group was getting their own Happy Meals from Pruitt, and now they’re mad that it’s dried up. No other reason to champion Pruitt like he has, at least not based on anything he did at Tennessee.

I honestly can’t recall a more prove it on the field season than this one upcoming. I don’t think it’s necessarily all about the wins and losses, because we are definitely going to lose a decent amount of game, but we have to look good doing it.
agree. just a lot of unknowns for all involved, regardless of the UCF experience. we're in the "we've heard this before, you know?" category when it comes to selling TN....and that's ok, it comes with the territory when you've been like we've been the past 12 years.

the pitch won't be all together different from pruitt's or Jones'. the product really needs to be.

6,4,and 18 months....

42.

I was almost 40 when my son was born. Daughter when I was 42. They are now 18 and 15. I have had to work hard to keep up. Sports, Scouts, Dance, and other activities. It’s been a blast. I don’t know that I was prepared for kids when I was younger. It drives my friends nuts that I am always ready to do whatever activities that the kids want to do and I am ghe oldest parent in our group 🤠

We're in day 3 of the rolling blackouts and it sucks but it's not as bad as some of the other places in Texas. Gonna be in the 60's next week though and back to the golf course :cool:

I believe you’re in Frisco. So am I. You seem to have it much better than my area of town. Power went out at 4:00 a.m. Monday when the temp was 4 degrees. Stayed off until 4:30 p.m. and was on for about 50 minutes before going back out. Came back on for about and hour at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Was out Tuesday morning when temp was -2. Came back on around 8:30 a.m. for an hour. Been on and off periodically since then. Currently off...but the temp is a balmy 21 degrees. Must be global warming.

Some of the things that certain poster has said on here makes you think the NCAA may need to look into his place of employment.

Good post
One big difference- experienced AD and HC
Our big mistake is summed up in one person - Fulmer
agreed. just stating it's "new", again...
and on Fulmer, it's all hindsight for most...self included. i remember being happy about him getting that job, but in the back of my mind wondering if it would work out? never really verbalized that though. "Tennessee people gonna fix Tennessee"...forgetting it was mostly Tennessee people that fudged it up.....

Man I’m so sorry; this certainly puts our midTN event into perspective. Although it’s pretty bad for folks up on the plateau that got clipped by it.
This is a pic from the link someone posted above. I started collecting snow last night but it takes forever to melt so may try to get the grill going. 😄

I agree. Tennessee can't be the only program who would be interested to see what goes on at a place like NPA and the impact they have on recruits and why.....

agree with all this (just wasn't sure about key's portal date) and i'm not really worried about recruiting at this point, siap. the visit deal is a big factor, so assuming that doesn't change this cycle, we're gonna have to wait til the season gets going to put some results behind whatever pitch this staff is selling, and see how that goes. i would imagine they'll continue to recruit, regardless of commitments, until they can't...so who knows what the relationships, and product on the field, look like by October/november...i don't expect our class to be full by any stretch lol.

and yeah, i know what you're talking about on the rest. i perused the thread he was posting in yesterday. hopefully most of that is just ranting from a guy that was just po'd about the situation, not a new mission statement for his business....we'll see. it can't be good business to publicly ostracize the biggest in state school....just can't be.

Okay, two things:

1) Thank you to all the regulars in this Thread/Forum who have allowed, yea even welcomed me, to this side of VolNation. It is different here (like in the Gruden threads of yesteryear), and not everyone is welcome. You all have made me feel welcome.

2) More importantly, I was thinking last night as I was nodding off to sleep, and wanted to make it a point to come here and ask today ... who are the top five greatest wrestlers who never won a World Championship? I'm not talking about world tv title, or world tag titles or even world jr type titles ... I'm talking the main belt for a major company.

Here's four ... I'll let you guys add one more.

Not in any particular order ... I'll hang up and listen.

I honestly think that's the way to do it if you can. When you are younger you are going to have to choose your kids over the stuff you want to do for yourself. I think it's way easier to make time for kids when you are older, and you are wiser for it also.
