We could build masonry heaters in america but we do things the stupid way. Mark twain even mentioned it a long time ago about the dumb way we heat our homes

Now that is ignorance. Life involves risk. If u are the head of the family... Prepare yourself. I hate it for all the people in texas but relying on the govt is a risk
I have been studying them for a while, very interesting concept. Here is a simple one. There are tons of videos on you how to make your own and there are companies that will build them for you. Just type in masonry heater and enjoy.

I think that’s just regular season. The total number is 115 maybe. Had a run of 17 or 18 straight shut outs too. Something like 75 straight quarters. It’s pretty crazy when you look at his actual numbers. Oh and deployments to 3 different conflicts (ww1, Panama and ww2) during all of that as well

Oh I've built probably 25 rocket stoves. 2 masonry heaters at an mha convention. I made a tandoor out of insulated castable refractory once. Bought at harbison walker in knoxville

Hell I once looked up the patent for the coating on the space shuttle. Ordered the stuff I needed, and coated a rocket stove that would melt aluminum. All naturally aspirated with no fan or electric.

We'll start convincing them then... I think this tragedy is an incredible opportunity to educate them how stupid we do things. A thorium reactor is not an unsafe device. Corrosion from salt is one technical challenge so pipes will need replaced until a suitable material is found. Much safer than zirconium rods that caused fukushima and chernobyl
If I'm not mistaken one of the units at Savannah River was the basic design of Chernobyl. It just has a containment dome which Chernobyl didn't.....cost savings.

There are several doable plans for alternative energy but no path forward on implementation of any of those plans. Everybody wants the new and shiny but how do you make a universal swap the least painless to the end user? It has to be done slowly and deliberately and not how it has been done or proposed to be done at this time which is fast and our only choice.

As it is now we have a plan that is both not well thought out or end user friendly. The buy in has to be done by the masses and I would imagine a large part of the people in Texas are not convinced that it is a good idea now and perceptions will not easily be changed at this point.
Nickola Tesla is rolling over in his grave.

Oh, yeah...you read that right. Just a little over 50% of his games, not just wins, were shutouts. It's an insane stat. People can talk about Saban and Bear all they want, NEITHER is/was Robert R Neyland. He took Army soldiers, and went 2-1 against NFL teams. Think about that.

Edit sleeves rather than rods. Converts to pure hydrogen when overheats or meltdown. Collects at top. Pressure rises. Concrete cracks. Oxygen meets hydrogen. Boom. Twice now
A big problem in the US is that there are so many nuke designs in use. I think it was either Germany or France that used the same design and the plants we almost identical all the way down to the location of the cafeterias. It made training , maintenance and regulation easier and more cost effective as well.

I went down that rabbit hole when I wondered how do Russians and all europeans stay warm. They come over here and are dumbfounded by how much wood we waste baking our timber, rather than burning it extremely hot and fast and saving that heat in stone channels, converting from convective to radiant heat... Which feels so much better

I didn't state otherwise, but there's not a lot of energy companies competing for your business I've noticed. Buy a kerosene heater and start looking into masonry heaters or peter vandenburg's batch rocket stove. Combines masonry heater and rocket stove tech. I been on a forum with him since 2013.

It is the most efficient on a testo meter that I've heard of.
Those are definitely good suggestions for some. I will definitely check them out. I am lucky that I haven't lost power. But the water treatment plant in my town did lose power, so I have no water. Maybe they should look into these options. Hahaha.

Our 11-month-old son started running a fever this afternoon and is in the ER now with a 103.1 temperature. Some of you may recall me asking for prayers for my niece late last year due to MIS-C, a secondary condition to COVID-19. We are almost positive he was infected with COVID-19 a few weeks back. There was an outbreak at his school, and my wife and I contracted it. I know we have prayer warriors here and I would appreciate them at this time.

Just now seeing this. Praying for healing.

Oh a masonry heater is 10k minimum if you don't do it yourself. There's a kuznetzov guy in russia who has those plans in 3d u could follow. I am building a house soon. It will have one of my own making in the center . With an upper bake oven of course. Just like the siberians lol

Thats where I first seen one, was watching a trapping video and dude went into his house and explained how he keep his family warm in those brutal Siberian winters. Then I started looking at all those other you mentioned especially the rocket stove.

It is Bailey lol, SpringBok over there talking out his arse.

There’s a reason Hooker had to transfer and it’s because he wasn’t good enough to start where he was.
He was a quality starter for two years. For some reason his fumbles in the Clemson game got him in the doghouse with the staff and fans. I would wager today if I was a betting man that Hooker will be our starter this year.

The simple explanation is an insulated heat riser. Think a pipe above your fire chamber. Expanded gases go into it but insulation makes it get much hotter. Expanding more creating an incredible natural draft/ draw. Sucks in fresh air to the fire. The proportions and openings are critical and have been fine tuned discovered by vandenburg

Thats is so freaking cool. Not only can you heat the house for half a day but cook a pizza or whatever as well. Its like it was supposed to be like that then some assjat switched it up, probably for profit in some way as usual.

There's a little slot where the fire chamber shoots flames into the bake oven. The cool thing now is called a Russian double bell. You force the hot gases to stratify at the top of a bell, giving stone time to soak up heat. At bottom it gets out a slot and rises to a second bell, soaking up more heat. I helped a Canadian build one at a mha convention near asheville around 2015
