Who says I charged him? You act like that’s a negative that he ABLE to throw from off platform. News flash...... that’s a weapon! Not a knock. If qb A doesn’t need his feet set to throw accurately but qb B does, who’s more dangerous to play against?
You’re not good at fishing are you, or maybe I should say, not good at passing on bait?

Which with free agency is going to decimate some teams.

One very negative side effect your going to see from this is that teams will reserve 5 or so spots annually for transfers meaning less kids coming out of HS will have a shot at a P5 school. Secondarily, it could help strengthen Group of 5 schools, but it won’t come near closing that gap.

So what does CJH want at QB? What did CJP want?
I really don’t know. Gabriel was far from some elite arm talent and wasn’t a great athlete so he may not have a prototype but just whoever is making the quickest/best decisions. That would be smart. Chaney wanted a qb who can drive the ball down field which is why we ran a lot of dig routes, verticals, and deeper outs and comebacks. That’s why he favored shrout over HB.

You don’t need a gun to operate this offense Bc most of the vertical shots are basically fades on quicker drops. But with the side splits of the WRs i do think you need to have a quick release and some zip on the ball or you will throw some pick 6s.

The taxes paid from the wealth in the suburbs don’t go to the city of Memphis, however, the majority of the wealth comes from employment in the city of Memphis. So, if there were no redeeming qualities to the city, that wealth wouldn’t exist.

I get it. Everyone likes to crap on the city. Been happening since I stepped on campus at UT. There is a lot that goes into it, and some of the topics involved could get heated and not worth it here.

But the county, as a whole, is important to UT for several reasons, including the Medical School being located here. I don’t crap on Decatur County or Fentress County or Grundy County, so it mystifies me sometimes when Vol fans want to do it to others with Shelby County. I will leave it at that.

You can crap on Fentress County any time you want.

Here's the cheerleader's take after spring practice.... The team seems to have come a long way in a few weeks compared to 3 years. OL minus the 5*s looked to actually be working together and focused. Have no idea what goes on in practice, but HB seemed to be in control. BM had some moments, and HH probably would look a lot better if he were allowed to run. There's a lot more work to be done with the play book, etc. before game time. I think we will have a QB this year for the first time in a long time. Excited about our WRs. Think the RBs will get the job done. Now defense... So many were held out we have no idea. The ones on the field did at least seem to know what they were doing so that is very encouraging. I think despite the bad reports we will have at least as good a defense as 6 teams we play. Not worrying about how many games we will win just how much progress we make. Cheering for this coach and the players who decide to stay and be Volunteers!

Yeah, he said the QB had to be able to make quick decisions so that is probably the most important to him. Will be interesting to see what type of QBs he recruits in the future.

Thanks for the comps, interesting read.
What’s your take on BM? I’ll go 1st.
Far to often he locks in on a receiver. Inconsistent on bread and butter throws in live action (receiver screens). Throws deep into double coverage too often 6-7 times in scrimmage and was lucky there were no picks, IMO. Seems distracted by things like Twitter, Tats, and Left Eye Lopez which makes me think he lacks some maturity. He throws too many picks, happened in HS and happened in games at UT. He is very fast (legs). I think he is also very fast with his decisions which get him in trouble. His speed seems to be straight line and not as much wiggle so he’s more likely to get injured. When he makes big plays I’m still waiting for the mistake to make up for it. So what does Hype do to correct the above? For the sake of the team I wish there was more development with him to date but it doesn't seem to clicking and his clock is ticking... wish it weren’t so and hope it changes...

He needs to embrace structure. That’s what this offense is. He wants to go off script, extend plays and get out of the pocket (a lot like Seattle and Russell wilson) but in this offense they usually do most of their reads pre snap where you pick which side you want to work (usually based on leverage and if it’s 1 high safety or 2 high safety)... a lot of RPOs and usually at tops 2 reads. You’re not going to see any play action - 7 step drops with a deep post. But regardless it should be - hike, 1,2, if neither is there take off up the middle and get yards. The defense is already wide and spread out so it create a lot of interior rushing lanes for QBs. So when Maurer is running around in the backfield that’s not what needs to do. He has the quickest release and most zip on the ball to pair with a mobility factor. That’s why he’s getting favored Bc he should be he “fits” this offense the bets but that doesn’t mean at all that he will operate it the best.

But to answer imo BMs biggest issues are him wanting to leave the pocket when he doesn’t need to (feels pressure that isn’t there or rushes through reads) and he doesn’t know how to scrap plays. I’m hoping with how simple and quick this offense is compared to chaneys that it takes the thinking out of it for Maurer because we all know his issues age between the ears so if JH can get him to be a robot then he will thrive. If not, he can go play at Memphis or somewhere else.

I love the horn kid that is committed to Missouri. Had a buddy coach against his team and he raves about him. Reminds him a lot of drew lock

Good cheerleader chops 😁

Maybe true. But, that is where Bailey shines, he will literally take what the defense gives him and hit those under routes if he can’t hit the deep route. That is what makes him a better passer IMO. He is very smart with the ball and has the touch to make all the throws.

Shouldn't you be commenting on fashion or something like that?

There’s part of it though where you don’t want it to be all the QB does. That was his issue last year, which granted he was a freshman in a primarily vertical offense but he would come off too quickly and not let the play develop, leaving a lot of plays on the field. So there’s a balance that every coach will differ on. Some coaches want you to push the ball downfield and can stomach more turnovers and some coaches prefer a safer more cautious approach.

What's been the discussion on the defense? It's harder to parse out in these spring games for sure
I was a little disappointed in the secondary. A couple of guys that i was hoping would make strides looked like they didn’t belong in the sec. i like our DL and the versatility they have to one and two gap against the run. It’s impossible to judge the LBs tho although i think the Garland kid looks the part.

Agree.

Too early to say, well, "Willie" when it comes to the secondary with Banks' expertise and involvement in that group. I don't think Wille's had time to prove his level of competency yet. But some of the experienced guys really did not look good at all. That's something to watch come fall camp.

Kid was afraid to throw the ball down field and miss a throw because he would be pulled immediately if he did anything wrong. I firmly blame Pruitt and staff for that.
