I have been reading the post and the pro's and con's of paying players and the money made by the schools, conferences and the NCAA and was wondering has anyone ever really done a study on where all the money really goes and how it is used. Is it scholarships, facilities, back to the schools or someones pocket and if so who's pocket, I have no idea.

IF college or amateur sports, as we know it, were to go away and the minor leagues are formed it could put a whole new spin on getting paid to play. The average sports scholarship for D1 is about $36,000 and the average minor league baseball player makes about $ 15,000 so with that being said some had better be careful for what they are asking for because they just might get it in the long run.

Yeah but the team is providing the “platform” if they didn’t play on the team they wouldn’t make any money. So…. Yeah. I mean it says a school can take 75% not that a school will take 75%
The school can (legally) charge a fee to the player for being on the team, but they can't legally say "hey that car dealership who paid you to be in a commercial? Fork over the money so we can give it to your fellow teammates." That would never hold up in court.

I’m not sure when it started. I just know that some were telling other players they were looking around. Then a player told my VFL. We were going to lose many even if we kept Pruitt (no matter what dumb a** AP says). It’s how I knew Too Too was gone way before anyone the media even talked about it. We would have lost some OL if Pruitt was kept too. But that’s old news now, this team seems to be having fun and buying in more and more. Let the ones who don’t want to give 100% effort leave and let the ones who stay play their hearts out. I don’t care if we win 5-8 games next year, if those kids are giving their all and playing hard, I will cheer them on and support them in any way I can.
Thank you and well said. Yes, if we are playing hard and doing all they can after staying with us, it doesn't matter how many they win I will be cheering for them like they are true heroes. I am expecting some of the to become my all time favorites just because of it. It would have been much easier to walk away. So I hope they get to have the time of their lives! From a lot of comments they are really enjoying football again.

If so, you better never be wrong about anything, even the slightest detail, because some on here will make your life hell.
Just start everything with this is what I am hearing that is happening at this very moment although it may change tomorrow so I will keep you updated, and you will not have to have a meltdown......... Maybe that will help.

This is true..... we beg for info and then get mad if info is not correct 100% of the time..... I remember skeeter had been right 100% of the time and then missed on I believe Carl Lawson..... a few posters chased him all over the board.
See my post above. And please ignore them.

It does ruin things because its the "give an inch take a mile" concept. See how quickly it has escalated?
What? How are stipends in any way related to kids getting paid for THEIR OWN LIKENESS?! And why are you so passionate about making sure bureaucrats and school administrators keep all the money and the players only get paid on a barter system?

People give up rights in times of fear for perceived safety and security. So those who seek power over them beyond what is permitted, create situations that induce fear, anxiety and panic. Then they come riding into the rescue with solutions. Dangle some money out there. Rinse, repeat.

Everything is legal until it is proven it is not in the courts. If the judiciary is tainted and politicized, well, we find ourselves where we are today. So let's make this post "legal" for the thread.

That's why it is naive IMO to believe that CFB will ever return to what it once was with amateurism reigning. If you understand business lifecycles you know that when cash is the primary goal and focus - as it is and has been for some time - that business/industry has moved into the decline side of the cycle. To go back to growth requires the excess cash to be reinvested into product development instead of payouts. Where does the product (players, coaches, administrators, marketers, etc.) come from? School systems in towns near you. For the game to grow it cannot pay out most of its resources to the end product. The money it gets comes from us with discretionary spending. When we don't like the product, we stop watching and buying. If there are no end goals worthy of pursuing by the prospective products in that business/industry, it craters.
Wow...so well said. I don't think those lobbying for that 10% to get what they "deserve " fully understand how this is going to work.

How did the Spring Game go? Is the roster in a manageable state or were there a lot of key transfers? How’s recruiting. I know it’s only May, and all.

Somebody hide the nuclear codes from this man 😅

I do think about this - stipends. They've now been around for 6 years. As far as I know, the first and only instance of schools directly paying players cash. I remember the discussion surrounding them for years was how it would ruin things. And yet here we are, never even hearing a peep about them ruining things.
Exactly. I'll never understand how people are so passionate about keeping the poorer kids/little guy down in favor of the bureaucrats and school admins. Why do people fight so hard to keep kids from earning money off their talents?

I think a salary cap would improve college football tremendously. Parity is long, long gone in college football. It's pretty much OSU Bama Clemson now, with a few in the next tier, then everyone else. Make college football a minor league system, pay the players, bring back parity.
