Exactly. I'll never understand how people are so passionate about keeping the poorer kids/little guy down in favor of the bureaucrats and school admins. Why do people fight so hard to keep kids from earning money off their talents?

I think a salary cap would improve college football tremendously. Parity is long, long gone in college football. It's pretty much OSU Bama Clemson now, with a few in the next tier, then everyone else. Make college football a minor league system, pay the players, bring back parity.
I think you just answered your own question. People are passionate about it because it is going to lead to college football becoming minor league teams instead of college football.

Man poor Buffalo losing half their team to the portal it seems they are gonna crash hard this fall

I generally approve of the one-time free transfer rule, but there are probably going to be 5-10 years of serious growing pains, and a lot of fine tuning needed in the meantime.

Nobody wants that though. The NFL isn't interested in developing a minor league system. And the colleges that participate aren't interested in giving up their football programs.

I doubt a minor league football system would ever come close to the support college football has. UT can get 100,000 fans to come to 1 Vols football game. A minor league Tennessee team may not get that in a 5 game home season.

Navy it is .

I have been reading the post and the pro's and con's of paying players and the money made by the schools, conferences and the NCAA and was wondering has anyone ever really done a study on where all the money really goes and how it is used. Is it scholarships, facilities, back to the schools or someones pocket and if so who's pocket, I have no idea.

IF college or amateur sports, as we know it, were to go away and the minor leagues are formed it could put a whole new spin on getting paid to play. The average sports scholarship for D1 is about $36,000 and the average minor league baseball player makes about $ 15,000 so with that being said some had better be careful for what they are asking for because they just might get it in the long run.

Good post. They are going this direction in a time when MLB is going back toward colleges and shutting down some affiliations.

Especially when you’re wrong 90% of the time and try to act like some big baller.
Serious question. I know a lot of people give you grief because you pretty much scoff at all insiders and I am not criticizing that. Just wondering if you have ever thought any "insiders" were legit?

They are already a minor league system for the NFL and NBA and have been for ever. What the problem is now is that people are wanting to get paid for playing a sport and have there education paid for as well.

I have no problem for a person getting paid for their talent, they should be but if your whole goal is to get paid and go pro then let the Pro's start a minor league system for those people and those that want to get a education above all else go to school. Will the overall talent pool drop in college ? YES. Will people quit watching college teams? NO. Will people watch the minor league teams ? Look at the B league basketball, minor league hockey and baseball for that answer.

There's not a right or wrong answer really. It will all depend on where the money will go and what the consumers will buy. At this point there are way to many unknowns to really get a grasp on what college sports will become 10 years from now but it will be a lot different from what we have had or have now for sure.

The really sad part is that those that could use the education the most are the ones that will be caught in the middle if the dream of being a pro does not materialize in the end. I have yet to see a job application that ask what you run the 40 in but all ask about your education.

Love how the media trash talks Bailey and some fans on here automatically go from “Bailey looked great last year” to “Can Bailey run this Offense? or Milton is going to be the QB”

Bailey goes on to embarrass everyone on the team, just about anddddddddd he still sucks and Milton is the savior. Lol please. That’s so Volnation to turn on a QB because VQ dweebs say so. Someone needs to hand AP, Hubbs, etc. a football to see how far they can throw it. Milton was brought in for depth because someone is leaving. If he starts, he won’t be in long.
I don’t give a rat’s behind who our QB is. I just hope, and have faith that the best man plays and the next man is ready.

That is all

Have an interview on Monday for a new teaching position with Holston Middle School in Knox Co. Is that a good school? Good area? Is Knox Co. a good school district to work for?
Grew up around there. It’s right on the dividing line of communities of poverty and crime (not always correlated, so don’t hate), middle class and some affluence. It’s an interesting place to be.

My recommendation would be to look for a house north of the Holston River off of Asheville hwy. if you take it. I’ve got some friends in real estate if you want to inquire

If you know how to play the game then it's a good district to work in. If you can't play the game then good luck. That's also a low/middle socioeconomical area. What content area is it if you don't mind me asking?
