AS A RECRUIT
Michigan took an early lead for Anthony and while his recruitment ended up playing out until after his senior season, it was pretty clear from the early going that he was going to end up as a Wolverine.
AT MICHIGAN
Playing alongside fellow five-star Dylan Moses at IMG Academy, Anthony stood out for his productivity and nose for the ball. Unfortunately that never translated to the college level, where he struggled to find playing time at Michigan. After redshirting in 2017, Anthony played in seven games in 2018, and then competed in nine more as a redshirt sophomore in 2019, although most of his action came on special teams. After recording just 14 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack over his three years with the program, he announced plans to transfer in December. After graduating last month, Anthony hit the portal this week. He will now have two years of eligibility remaining and can play in 2020.

POTENTIAL LANDING SPOTS
This is another tough case because it's so late in the game, but perhaps Anthony will look at options in the Big 10 or Pac-12, especially given the likely attrition of players leaving early for the NFL Draft. Maryland would make sense as a match, but as with anyone transferring right now, it's all about making the numbers work.
FARRELL'S TAKE
“ Anthony was an incredible talent coming out of high school, a prospect who could have played running back or linebacker or even play as a big safety. It’s puzzling that he didn’t make an impact at Michigan at all as he was perfect for that Jabrill Peppers role. There is talent still there but with little time left to make an impact and the uncertainty of college football his rating is low for a former 5 star.”-- National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell
Impact Rating:
4.6 out of 10

4.1- 6.0 — A solid impact can be expected in the right scenario and has the potential to battle for a starting job.
Lol so Spoons Farrell graded him a 5*? As usual, the only one.

247 had him #210 and ESPN #124. Rivals...#26 😅

Reminds me so much of the post-Butch era when VQ was on a kick of pointing out all our "paper 4 stars" when VQ was the only site to grade them as 4 stars 😭

Fwiw nothing to do with the kid, just enjoy dunking on Farrell.

Nobody wants that though. The NFL isn't interested in developing a minor league system. And the colleges that participate aren't interested in giving up their football programs.

I doubt a minor league football system would ever come close to the support college football has. UT can get 100,000 fans to come to 1 Vols football game. A minor league Tennessee team may not get that in a 5 game home season.
You don't have to abandon the university. Just have it be outside the NCAA. It's not either or, it can still be college football. And I guarantee you the players would be interested.

I think you just answered your own question. People are passionate about it because it is going to lead to college football becoming minor league teams instead of college football.
It can be both. It's not mutually exclusive. How would the on field product change if kids were getting more money? It would be better if anything, if there were a salary cap.

I don't care much for pro sports, and I know I would have to think a little harder about donating the money I do to buy premium seats. I think it would have a significant effect on the Tennessee Fund.

Weird that a 5* lb from florida would end up all the way in Michigan and not bama, uf, clemson, etc.. makes me wonder if the coaches knew he grossly overrated and didn’t trust his ranking. That’s what I’ve been saying about some of the 4 and 5 stars UT has had the last few years.

Pretty good listen. Maybe something is just wrong with Michigan

That guy is really good to listen to. You know it seems hard to believe that with all the players that have left that we may only have one more position left to give. With needs at DT and LB that has got to be a tough choice for the staff with so many needs on the D side of things. I have to admit that I did question the WR take. I thought WR's was one of our strong positions but I do trust Hype he knows what he wants but again with so many needs on the D side I thought we would fill those positions up. I wish we could get Jordan and would love to know what our LB coach thinks about him since he coached him.

The cynical side of me wonders if the recruiting services know big, rabid fanbases like Michigan and Tennessee pay their bills by subscribing to their sites, so they allow players they overrated to remain overrated as long as they are committed to those schools. That’s one of the ways that helps me understand why we can have the 12th (or 15th ?) best roster in the country from a recruiting star ranking standpoint while getting drubbed by Kentucky, Vandy and Georgia State....
