You are missing the point. As the senior executive responsible, she launched an investigation using outside resources. Without questioning if going outside immediately was prudent, you run the investigation in a way to obtain an interim report facilitating the decision to terminate (or not) at a time the business needs. That was at least two weeks earlier and the results tend to confirm that as well imo. Virtually everyone conceded the timing was poor.
Your point’s weird! She had to pose a QUESTION before she could spend the money. She reports to Boyd and he answers to the BOT. Who’s this “everyone” you’re referencing? Sounds generic.

We really need football season to get here, then we really need to show something on the field. It's the only thing that's gonna boost our recruiting, other than a surprise announcement that the NCAA investigation is done and we're facing little to no sanctions. Since I don't see the latter happening, we really need the former.

Is there a rule if you enter the transfer portal and don’t get picked up by another team is your eligibility with your current team over with? I assume most coaches wouldn’t want to back players back if they had a choice, but in certain circumstances I could see where you might take a few back for depth concerns at a position group. Mt assumption is they can return to the team if the coaching wanted them back, but I don’t know all the rules.
It's up to the school whether they want to continue to honor the scholarship. They can but don't have to.

Ok, another round lol. She started spending when her legal team brought in the outside firm. I’ll assume she had Boyd’s blessing and likely the board chair. She didn’t manage the timing well to get an interim view to make the call. It was widely reported about the difficult timing related to recruiting retention, roster retention and hiring coaches given the timing of the coaching change by analyst covering the TN football program. It was after most changes and raises had occurred elsewhere in college football as most everyone knows. Surely you get that part.

And then there were the communication pieces…..

Agree with a lot of that. And if she had managed the process and moved at least two weeks sooner, it would have really helped with roster, recruiting and hires.
True. I think they really tried to get PF to fire JP and maybe even step down, but he wouldn't so it dragged out too long.

If she jumped before she KNEW anything, she would truly be in the wrong…instead of the contrived version.
My take is that they probably "knew" far more than needed to fire Pruitt long before they did. I think it is likely that Fulmer rightly saw his own fortunes linked to Pruitt and fought through internal politics to prevent it from happening.

It is speculation on my part but it fits the timeline and is consistent with Fulmer's past behavior. Think back to the years that led to his being fired as coach. He had one scandal after another that he tried to cover up or fight politically. What we know about that time is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

Really up to the school. The only rule afaik is your current term's scholarship is ensured for the rest of the term (if a player leaves mid-term, for instance).

Didn’t watch the same PC. Growing up I respected the actual grown ups who addressed problems and got to fixing them…instead of denying and attributing blame elsewhere. We’re in a world where spin rules supreme. Opposing coaches don’t need the truth to ply their crap. She should have done exactly what she did. We’ll benefit.

I also want actual grown ups to address the problems and fix them - by doing an internal investigation kept from the media and our competitors in the process. Once it is complete, then advise the world of the issues, the corrections taken, and the path going forward. Instead, we have fabrications of McDonalds bags and coaches telling our 2020 and 2021 recruits they will not see a bowl or playoff game if the head to Knoxville.

Do you know the details of the investigation? Please share. All we KNOW is that rules were broken. There was no way that wasn’t going to leak. What Dan Patrick diarrhea’d out on his show wasn’t in that PC I watched. And other coaches were always going to overplay severities…they didn’t need (or receive) ammunition.

How do you “know” something before it’s actually investigated…and confirmed? They got their ducks in a row after everything was confirmed. As you alluded, that includes selling it to the boosters and other bigwigs. You jump early without complete information and you invite only more trouble.

I just want the internal investigation over and done with. How long does it take to complete interviews? I want the UT portion and whatever penalties we're gonna self-impose done as of yesterday. The longer it goes on, the more it damages recruiting. Wrapping it up should be priority #1 for Donde and DW.
