Of that 37 I think 4 to 6 were walk ons (not on scholarship).

Also about 4 of them were grad transfers and we had 2 that were kickers

I think we may have pulled a few upgrades though in the shuffle, secondary especially.

We lost Solomon, Bishop, Lawrence, Shamburger, and Baylen of those guys only 2 of them saw any real meaningful minutes for us (Shamburger/Solomon) Baylen was "medically retired" and Bishop I think never saw the field.

We gained Turnage and Hadden. Of all those names Turnage is the highest rated and comes to us with 4 years of eligibility

It's a massive number either way, but very little production left UT... if you stack who left against what they did while here I'd say it's more like we lost 12 (JG, Brandon Johnson, Gray, Middleton, Gooden, Henry T, Crouch, Shamburger, Ty, Deandre, Bennett, & Cimaglia)
Lost 11. Gained how many in the portal? How many true freshmen could be productive?

I’ve applied 6 years in a row. Got tickets twice, once for the last day, once for a practice round. Gave them both to my dad which is why I applied anyways. (I’m not a golfer at all)
That’s honorable but you don’t have to be a golfer to go. Anyone can and should enjoy it.

Why do they count walk ons?
Helps with the narrative. One of those lists included Emmitt Gooden and Baylen Buchanan. How do you imply attrition with two guys who haven’t played football in two years? Brandon Johnson, Deondre Johnson and Kivon Bennett were also gone before Pruitt. You do the real numbers juxtaposed against who’s been brought in and it’s not stark enough to lament over properly.

The same players that loved JG?
I don’t think players loved JG that much or at least they never showed it….A lot of people that followed the program claimed that HB struggled in the spring…… Hopefully, it has clicked for him bc he definitely has the weakest arm on the team.

I don’t think it matters who left…. It seems to me by looking at our roster that our depth concerns seem much better now….. we have to take a few steps forward at some positions but have the potential to be a pretty solid team.

To be fair...we lost more than just one guy.

Crouch, Henry T, Bryce, Deandre Johnson, Bennett, Middleton, Key Lawrence... all gone

That's 3 a ton of production and also depth when you consider other guys that are no longer on the team (dismissed etc.) Will be interesting to see how the front 7 look come September, I like the secondary we have some talent returning and good depth as well as some impressive new guys. Plus 2 really good secondary guys on staff to help coach them up. My dark horse to "wow" folks in the secondary this season is Tyus Fields, feel like he didn't get much consideration from previous staff because of his size but he'll be entering his 3rd season here and has never wavered about transferring or leaving (to my knowledge) and seems to have all the skills you want in a CB. Came outta HS as a 4 star and a top 15 prospect in North Carolina with jaw dropping numbers.
Johnson and Bennett were kicked off the team almost midway through the season. There is such a thing as stretching out a narrative. And Bryce Thompson? He declared for the draft! When did they start counting those?

How is Gooden a loss when he hadn’t played the last two seasons?

I remember players talking him up last year before the season started. Remember thinking he had finally turned a corner.
