The conference overall would be a winner simply because it would bring in more money and wield more influence. The losers would be teams like ourselves that are trying to rebuild IMO. And TAMU would probably be hurt in recruiting as one of their selling points to Texas recruits is playing in the SEC. If Texas could sell the same thing, that could sway some kids. Other than guaranteed money, not sure how this helps Texas or Oklahoma in the long run. They play in a weak conference. Oklahoma has been dominating it for awhile. Texas has a chance to rebound and compete with Oklahoma. Seems like their paths to championships would be easier there.

When all is said and done, I have to believe the key driver in all of this is the money.

I could see Oklahoma football struggling in the SEC. Watching Tennessee’s decline it seems to me as a conference gets stronger and teams begin catching up to each other in terms of money, facilities, etc., the differentiator becomes instate talent. Oklahoma has Texas, but so would LSU. Mizzou, Arkansas, Texas AM and Texas. They might wane into mediocrity.

I honestly don't even like A&M being in the SEC...

I feel like the line west should stop at the Texas/OK/Kansas borders honestly. Missouri should be in the West, but also fine if they aren't in the SEC either.

Would have much rather seen us gain a FSU or UNC or Clemson or WVU in all the additions/shuffling. But I know "money is king" so my opinion don't matter any on this. Seems weird though I thought the Big 12 was doing pretty well and those are their top 2 teams.

Total left TN according to 247 tracker:
37

Of that 37 I think 4 to 6 were walk ons (not on scholarship).

Also about 4 of them were grad transfers and we had 2 that were kickers

I think we may have pulled a few upgrades though in the shuffle, secondary especially.

We lost Solomon, Bishop, Lawrence, Shamburger, and Baylen of those guys only 2 of them saw any real meaningful minutes for us (Shamburger/Solomon) Baylen was "medically retired" and Bishop I think never saw the field.

We gained Turnage and Hadden. Of all those names Turnage is the highest rated and comes to us with 4 years of eligibility

It's a massive number either way, but very little production left UT... if you stack who left against what they did while here I'd say it's more like we lost 12 (JG, Brandon Johnson, Gray, Middleton, Gooden, Henry T, Crouch, Shamburger, Ty, Deandre, Bennett, & Cimaglia)

Not gonna miss any of pruitt’s guys at all. Not one tiny little bitty bit. None were really Vols. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Only one that I want to see get totally embarrassed is ht. I really want to see him start against Tennessee. I want to see CJH scheme against his weaknesses. Lots of yards for TEs and slot receivers…lots of YAC for RBs after they mack truck him. Once we saw his true colors, didn’t want him to stay at Tennessee, but bama? Come on.

Well, in your expert opinion, what do you think about our QB situation?
oh wait you're asking me?

I think when he says 'down set hut' he isnt wagging his arms enough. If I were him id yell 'hot route' a lot. Not in the game, just randomly. 'HOT route!' Like he's autistic.

Edit: You werent asking me, my bad.

IMO……. He wants Hooker or Milton to be our QB bc it opens our offense all the way up to run the way he wants it….. I’m not sure he can correct Hooker or Miltons inconsistencies which would lead to Bailey being our QB if he proves that he can take the top off the defense consistently…..Since I am wrong a lot….. that means Maurer is probably our qb day 1.

Texas + Okie = Big bucks and press for the SEC.

Let's be realists - the NCAA model is dead. Period. A new model is developing that is pro sports oriented. NIL is here for good. Adding Texas and Oklahoma is a great business decision for the schools, coaching staffs and the players - they all win financially. So we can wish none of this happened or roll with it because it is changing no matter what we want.

Work backwards on number of games. Get the top 60 programs to agree on total games they will play in a season. Rebuild the schedule and eliminate the non-division rivalries. That stuff was great with the old model, but not with the new.

If we can't get in with an expanded playoff system that comes with it, we shouldn't complain. Just accept the increased revenues and put them to good use for the entire AD.
While I agree and was very much in favor of NIL, it appears I did not completely comprehend the scope and the pro-ness that it entailed. I am sad now. College football is dying and while I will still watch and enjoy, it will not be as fun, even when we win.

For me I think Brandon Johnson is the only one I'm really hoping has success, and probably Ty Chandler. Both of them were VFLs and spent at least a full 4 seasons here despite the coaching changes. Saw a ton of turnover during their time. They each went to non conference schools and I'd love for them both to ball out and get drafted.

He struggled pretty bad throwing down the field last season…. The orange and white game is a bad game to judge anything on although I am a HB fan and hope he is turning that corner.
Basing any performance in that offense with those play calls is an exercise in futility. About halfway through the season, he gets some snaps at the end of a game and takes what the defense gave him. Pruitt publicly shades him for not going deep but he kept the chains moving in games the starter couldn’t. Not sure how 3 and outs screaming “go long MF!” was any part of development. It was along the lines of randomly throwing Maurer in to quarterback sneak on third downs and never be seen again. Or any part of Shrout’s time with the team. Maybe there isn’t a corner for him or Maurer to turn. All we have to judge them on is that clown show last year and a short sample size in Spring. Might not know who’s really the best until midseason as the rest of the team gels as they actually play. I understand the rush to find out but impatience doesn’t guarantee the answer.

I don’t hold it against any of the kids that left….. This is 100% on our administration and coaching staff that has ran this program into the ground.

Went and got my 1st gel injection in my knee earlier today. Had a couple of cortizone injections in it last year. They would help for a while but my new orthopaedist believes the gel injections will be more effective. They are spread out over a three week period. Curious if anyone else has had these.

I give these injections fairly often. They work well for folks if the arthritis isn’t really bad. Good luck and hope that it really helps you.

Mizzou should go back to the Big12. Flip Vandy to the West. Add Virginia Tech or NC State to the East.

Or, Mizzou to Big12, Vandy to ACC, add both NC State and Virginia Tech.

Then every SEC East team would have a cross-conference rivalry with an ACC team.

Yep….. from reports Bailey wasn’t looking good this spring but he seems like a hard worker so I am hopeful he can figure it out….. Best Case scenario is that we pick the right QB before the season starts and he grows constantly throughout the season…. I don’t really care who’s wins the job as long as they put points on the board.

I could be wrong, but Maurer and Hooker both could be here just one more season. Hooker I think only has a year left anyway and Maurer is entering his 3rd season here so he could Grad transfer out with at least 2 years of eligibility left after this season if he wanted to.

HB to me is the interesting one...he essentially got a free year cause of COVID and could RS this year as well. Leaving him with 4 years of eligibility and a free "one time transfer" opportunity. The problem of course is he's likely not going to transfer to a better school after a RS season. But who knows, I feel like he stayed for a reason. Maybe he likes UT and the coaches or maybe he believes he can win the starting job and have some nice numbers under Heupel. He honestly is in a better "wait and see" position than any of the other QBs on our roster at this point.

Milton enters his 4th year in college, with COVID and RS I think he has 3 years of eligibility left...but if his dream is to make it to the NFL then one really good season and he's gone.

So at the core we could have 3 QBs that are gone after this season regardless of who starts, leaving Bailey... who if he RS this season would take over in his 3rd year with 4 seasons of eligibility and since Salter was dismissed and is now going to Liberty I can see Harrison willing to play the long game. Be at UT for 3/4 years and start 2 and head to the NFL with a ton of grooming and less wear & tear on him than most QBs leaving the SEC have.

That's a very good point I haven't considered. Maybe he knows he might not play this year, but he'd have the opportunity to get coached by Heupel and learn from him for a year or two before going where he has an opening.
